Ok peers, here goes everything....I'm throwing myself to the wolves. I started a blog a couple years ago and made a few posts, not much, and then got lazy and got lost. I want to pick back up and get going again. I do not know anything about SEO or backlinks although I have read and read on here. I am wanting to get this going and I am going to start a little Instagram side journey at the same time to tie in to this. I did not know if I was allowed to tell the name of my site but there is no monetization or following there as of yet. What are the next steps that I take? My blog is a travel blog about traveling with my son (might could locate it easily like that, my son's name is Deklan.) Any suggestions, help, words of encouragement or criticisms would be greatly appreciated. I can handle criticism, I am just ready to learn some more and get it going. If someone was to point out to do this one day and then this the next day or just whatever...anything could be helpful. GAME ON! Thanks in advance.

I have a great idea for you. Create a travel Instagram account and build your following from there. It is super easy to get followers. Just follow the people that follow the large nature accounts. DONT follow too many people a day, maybe about 200 or less in your first few weeks so about 20 an hour. If you have decent tags and good quality photos, you will gain some nice traction. Then you can direct your followers to your blog.

You can also find a large travel forum and become a member there.

Create a Tumblr and follow the process similar to Instagram.

Don't post your websites or social media accounts here unless you want content copycats.

    Hope this helps

Good luck with your journey, mate! My advice would be keep posting high quality content on regular basis, work social media, do keyword research and try SEO very carefully because you don't want penalties from Google. When you're doing social media, you can have an official account or page that you should also work carefully and without too many black hat tricks, but you should also create a small army or additional accounts that you can also use to promote your blog. Just be careful to not get your URL banned.

Thanks for the reply. I had not thought about Tumblr yet and that is definitely something that I will try to do. Some very good advice. Thanks again.

Thank you. Keyword research and SEO is something that I definitely need to learn more about but I will stay with it. Good idea about the small army to promote the blog. Will get to work on that.
