    Just wanted to share this.

A girl I know has a website, I went to high school with her.
It's on arts/crafts and stuff like that.
Her site was totally on Blogger. She started doing blog designing for customers. I think she was making $10k+ a month when I first talked to her. She said she was kinda getting away from it as she wanted to take an intern job in the US. Her site had no SEO done what so ever, wasn't targeting any keywords, absolutely nothing. I said you're crazy, you have so much potential here, and you're not even tapping into it. Not to mention she was in the process of moving from blogger to typepad. I'm like get a domain and get away from thirdparty hosting! She said she didn't like wordpress...

That was about a year ago. She messaged me a few days back and said she didn't take the job. She said she has hired on 9 designers who are booked solid for the next 3 months, and also a waiting list. Plus one full time customer service person. Again, absolutely no SEO, poor sales page, everything. I told her, "YOU'RE CRAZY!". And to top it off, she didn't redirect or anything from blogger, it was pretty much like starting fresh. Her old site on blogger is a PR4 with thousands of links to it. Most her anchor links coming in are her site name, and absolutely no related keywords. I checked on SEMRUSH, and according to them, she has barely any traffic, because it's all word of mouth.

I told her, you have an opportunity here to make a hell of a lot of money and set yourself up for a long time. But she's worried about being too pushy and doesn't want to force anything on her customers. I'm guessing she must be making atleast $20k per month herself, wouldn't be surprised if it was a lot more. I just believe how well she is doing, with really no clue on what she's doing.

However, it goes to show a) whitehat is not dead, with dedication and hardwork, you can make anything successful. b) if you pick a niche of something you like, something you have a passion about, you are more than likely going to be successful. Her story is a bit similar to mine. I started a site as a hobby, with zero intentions of making money, and it turned into a business, a very successful business. WHy? Because I loved what I was doing, I was working on my site from after school till I went to bed, 3-4AM on the weekends (this was when I was 16). And I was doing this with no intentions of making money, just that I loved what I was doing.

Anyways, just thought I would share because I can't believe how well she's doing with zero SEO.

Want a clue? and I might get bashed for saying this to some non believers, but if you never heard of it read the science of getting rich, what we picture in our minds we attract, and it comes to us, more powerful than any SEO in this world :)

Great story. Definitely inspiring. I was one of the people doing IM as a hobby when I was 17-18. I wish I started as young as you. But this is just like any other job. If you do what you like, you will put more into it. I started my business recently after realizing I can do this for a living (or at least provide a nice vacation fund if I get a 9-5) and it has been the greatest gift to make money from a hobby.

I have a girlfriend who have a blog on blogger. She is into entertainment.
And she told me she earn between $9k to $16k per month from Direct Advertising, Adsense, Amazon and Adbrite.
Some people still don't believe that a site on blogger can earn $$$ per month.

I forget what the intern was, but it was for someone she really admired. LIke an artist or something along those lines. She's an artsy type person, so it's something most of us wouldn't understand lol.

If you do something you love, you never work a day in your life! Though I admit. There's a process where you go from doing it for fun, and learning more about your hubby, to the point where you monetize, have to do customer support, work on product, keep track of sales, seo, etc. That's one of the downsides, though some will say it's the upside. But I spend very little time enjoying the hobby, more the SEO side now.

I'm a big believer in that as well. But that being said, I don't even think the money is important to her. I think she's happy living comfortable and keeping her customers happy. She msged asking if I could redirect her old site to her new one, and said she wasn't in arush because they are so backed up. I said, 'YOU HAVE TO HIRE MORE DESIGNERS OR START CHARGING MORE, SUPPLY AND DEMAND!'. I just want to grab her and shake her lol

I know, that's what kills me! lol
Like I think she has thousands of link to her site from work she has done and just natural links, but the links are "Site Name" and not something like "Blog design" or "Arts and crafts". She could be ranking for some competitive keywords with all these people willing to link to her.

I also got a 'dayjob' in the niche i really like to do (IT), and I can choose my own hours, only have to work 20h a week for a fulltime pay. the jobload is with bursts. with this i mean there are weeks where i really have no time for anything else, and there are weeks where i don't have to do anything. On top of that I only have to work 40 weeks in a year but still get paid 52 weeks. I can choose my own projects and I have an €xxx.xxx budget to buy stuff needed for work.

The downside on this all is that the pay is not as high as you expect in the IT business (about €3k before taxes a month)

However I really like what i'm doing, I need more money. I had 2 options. Find another job, where I have to work 40+ hours a week, am stressed out all the time, probably have to do stuff i don't like, won't have any downtime and would get to hate my job after a while..
or, the option I chose, start my own business.

So here I am :) trying to make cash from the internet (another thing i love), and I also do freelance programming for local clients.

You see, I don't believe in life after death, and I feel that our time here is limited. So I don't want to do a job that I hate, I want to enjoy my life, I want to be happy and I just refuse to do things I do not like to do.

So I can understand if that girl would like to do something that is her dream (like doing an intern with someone she really looks up to) instead of making money. She just wants to enjoy her life.

However, I believe money WILL bring happiness. People always say it won't, but it will sure help! But there are enough ways to make money doing what you love to do. Don't get a shitty job you hate!
