I have a couple of fb fanpages that are basically duplicates of each other but each one of them are set for specific keywords.

I have one of them ranking better than the other two, but all of them are on the first page of the SERPs.

I know back in the day admins were basically able to set up a landing page where either of the following would occur:

    • If the user had already liked the page, they would be directed to wherever you specify.
    • If the user HAD NOT already liked the page, you would be able to set up the landing page to where it would seem like the user was forced to "LIKE" the page first, and then the rest of the content would be displayed.

This was done by using the xshtml (or something along those lines) apps I believe.

    My questions are:

    • In order to rank the other pages better, would I simply update their status's according to their keywords?
    • How would I go about setting up these landing pages?
    • I'm basically wanting to encourage users to "LIKE" the page once they've clicked on the search result.
    • All three of the pages are under the same admin, is that a problem?

Thanks in advance guys, pointing me in the right direction is very much appreciated.

Page tabs? Plenty of people use them.

    - Setup app.
    - Setup your page tab in app settings.
    - Integrate with api and parse signed_request as needed.

I'm not sure if it's page tabs exactly. I know they once you go onto their fb page, it takes you to a "landing page" type of deal, and kind of hides everything else until have liked the page.

The victoria secret example doesn't do too good of a job in "encouraging" likes, but I've seen ones in the past that basically says " like our page and see our content"

i hope this will help you.

Make a facebook app on your account ,
Use this to open a tab on the fanpage
    http://www.facebook.com/dialog/pagetab?app_id=YOUR-APP-ID&next=http://YOUR-DOMAIN.

This will provide you for like window "like the page before you see something ".
so people will have to like the page before they see the landing page / to use the app.

Check this applications (2 death time)
Just change the landing page and the picture , you will have your own application.

    Thanks

I appreciate your guy's help. Is there a specific name to these types of apps? And another question, is it possible to set this up to when people click on the SERP result, it'll land on this app instead of the page wall?

I don't know the exact name of the apps.
    Let me be clear ,
Ones the apps is set this is how it works
You should spread the link of the
    https://www.facebook.com/fanpage/app_id
Those people who have already liked the page will lead to the apps / landing page , that will post on the wall along with the above link.
So when the new person who is not the fan of the page will have to like the page to see the apps / landing page.
    This how it should work.

Yea those are page tabs. Many popular brands use them.

When a user is browsing the page tab and they click the like button, the page will reload the tab's iframe. Inside the signed_request that is POSTed to the reloaded iframe will be a value that lets you know if the page has been liked by that user.

Sounds good. Would you know if there was a possible way to get that app link to show up in the SERP instead of the facebook.com/pagename ?

My pages are all ranked high in the serps, so basically the goal is for the to click on the results and land on the app that forces them to like the page.

hmm I think since FB removed the default landing tab feature long ago, you're only hope would be to outrank your page links with your page tab links. That would be really difficult I'm sure.

Yeah I'm not exactly sure if that is feasable. Does google index more than one link per fb page? It seems to me that they don't.

They do actually. For example if you were to google "facebook ufc" you should see a bunch of page tab links listed as well as the main page url. In addition to the extra juice the actual page urls usually have, they also have so much better on-site seo. Only time I see them outranked by their page tabs is when you are searching for the title of the page tab itself.

Wow, I've actually never seen a fb page indexed that way. Is this something we're able to do for our fanpages?
