I decided that the time is right for me to get health insurance for myself. I have been healthy but you never know what can happen. I am 28 and i recently got some quotes on health insurance and wow they are expensive. plus the deductibles suck. i just want to not be financially ruined if i were to get sick or something. i have been putting this off for some time but i think the time is right now.

I'm 52 and my wife and have been self employed for years. We have a 5,000 deductible in order to keep the premiums down. No dental, no eye care in our insurance. We get a discount on eye care at lenscrafters because of AAA and I just write the check for dental.

see that's the debate for me. should i go for high deductible and low premiums or low deductible and high premiums. i am very healthy overall. but i think its the responsible thing to do as i get older.

There is no "best" option it in my opinion. The best option is the one that makes you most comfortable. I believe my way is the best way because it is less expensive in the long run but that is me.
