its possible especially if the category contains links to many pages of content on your site. in time then home page should rank as the juice from category carries over to the homepage. dont sweat it.

Yeah, your cat page might have better content than your homepage, depending on how you have WP setup to display content and recent posts, etc.

The category page is similar to my homepage, my website contains one category with two posts, so the content is the exactly the same.

    I am experiencing the same.
Instead of indexing my homepage, my 'CONTACT US' page is ranked much higher than my home page (page 1).

I have no idea why. This is quite dumb.

it is weird. on one my site, search page is on page 1, instead of the homepage (main info page).

The category page can be more specific than your homepage. If you're focusing on a big niche it's going to be hard to rank for it. If your category page is a long tail keyword then it's easier to rank for it.

    oo i see
    maybe thats why.
My contact us page is like 'contact-us-for-keyword1-keyword2-keyword3'

Does it mean that this is the main reason why it is ranked higher than my index (home page)?

It often happens when the site is still new. Your homepage will come above the cat page eventually.

This usually happens when people have a different page in search engine's eyes better optimized for the keyword they are trying to rank their homepage for. Search engines take the link power & rank the page that they think is the page that is correct for that keyword. This is why it's necessary to give "smart" individual titles & descriptions to each page & optimize the body for the keyword as well, IF you absolutely have to repeat your keyword on several pages. Usually as you keep building link volume to your homepage, they finally switch to the page that is being linked to, but you end up doing more work to rank the page in my experience. YMMV.
