I want to start an affiliate program for my site. I have a fantastic plugin for it and it works extremely well.

However, what would be the best way to go about this. I know many here are working with affiliates constantly and I know there are tons of guidelines to follow normally..

Should I give a s*&% how people gain leads or sales, whatever. Simply allow blackhat or whatever, or should I actually put in a policy (like I could even enforce it anyway) that states what should be allowed or not.

Also, I am going to give out 50% plus 20% on second tier. is this something that would be good or should I increase or decrease?

Also, about gaining affiliates to begin with...where should I do this? I am not going to spam a link here or anything as I like my account here thank you very much.

I simply would like to know the best way you think that I can obtain affiliates, besides jumping up and creating backlinks to my affiliate sign up with keywords like make a bunch of money stuff.

By the way, that post may make me sound stupid, but that is not the case, I am quite intelligent. However, I have never started an affiliate program as of yet and would like to do it without *%&#&% it up.

If you are seriously branding yourself or your business you
might consider prohibiting of the negative promotional methods,
like making "YOU PRODUCT scam" websites or adwords campaigns.

So go with straight up links on websites, what about social networking? I know many promote through email, facebook, twitter and so on. What kind of effect does this have on the site itself?

Well, what I want to do is implement others to become affiliates for my own site. I want to pay out a generous amount so that I can obtain good affiliates as well as keep them. Plus I would like to develop their second tiers as well. Meaning I would rather nurture the affiliate program rather than just have a random one. I really do not know where to start obtaining the affiliates, but again, my idea is to develop the program as an extended team instead of simply a bunch of people trying to promote my services randomly with whatever tactics if it will actually cause negative effects instead of positive outcomes.

So I guess my questions would be

    1. what is the best percentage rate to pay out on both first and second tiers
    2. what is the best policy for affiliate advertising (ie should anything be allowed as long as it gets results, or should I make an effort to control how the leads are obtained)
    3. Where is the best place to obtain affiliates (again, I like my account here and would not dare try to get affiliates in the wrong place, even here, and get banned from the best damn forum in the world).

that said, thanks for considering this.
