This site is having a 99 cent .com domain name sale right now. I just bought 3 of them... I love when it's cheap! Of course next year you have to pay full price but then maybe you're not even using the domain next year... and ummm if you are than that means it's probably a successful website. Oh yeah! http://bit.ly/99centcom

I've been using them for years and I've never had a problem. I just bought 3 domains. You just have to buy separately, go through buying each one...

1&1 review today:

support was really cool man. perhaps down the line if you have copyright issues they are lame, but as far as their sales people and help desk, they were very informative, didn't make me feel unimportant, and were in general a pleasure to talk to.

the domain was 99 cents, including the icann fee. i used to think they were totally lieng about that sale, because I tried ordering a .org as my emd .com was taken and saw that--at checkout--it was 9.99!! I would rather get a nine dollar domain w/ free private whois from internet.bs, as they own 1&1 hard.

anyways, customer support kindly said that it is only 99 cents for a .com/.info, and you may only register 1 for 99 cents per account.

But--one thing that sucks about 1&1 is their ridiculous manual review process for every new account--which is totally lame and frustrating when you want to start a campaign gosh-darnet-now. Customer support told me that they do a very basic check to make sure everything at least looks legit as far as your reg-c etc contact info. This is one thing that really pissed me off, as I used all fake data for my public reg-c because they charge a rediculous fee for private whois.

Let's see if they suspend me like the noobs at register.com, shall we?

I bought a domain today at 1and1.com for $0.99, but they basically forced me to make an "instant domain" account. If I wanted to add it onto my existing hosting, I would have had to pay the full $9.99.

It's pretty useless to me, since there's no hosting attached to it, and I can't change the dns records name servers, only the ANAME and point it to a specific ip address (127.0.0.1), which I don't have because my main 1and1 account is shared hosting not dedicated, EC2, static ip, or whatnot. I'm not upset, since I was going to let it more or less sit there for a good amount of time either way, but I guess I'll be transferring the domain from one account into the other, in 11 months. :shot: Anyway, even after being a loyal customer for about 5 years, they're still verifying the account I just added on to my old one, and the purchase of the domain is pending. lol

You can transfer out for free. I've transferred in and out without a problem.
I'm not sure what the ICANN rules are, but I believe you have to wait at least 2 months after registering.
