    Hi,

I'm new to black hat world. Although, I've passed through a few times in years past.

My partners and I have a website that generates around 90k users and 600k pageviews every month. Our readers are on our site an between 4 to 6 minutes per session. They are engaged! Facebook 14k+ followers. Twitter 8k+ followers. Email Subscribers 7k+.

We're hyper local news, and most of our traffic is geo specific. We have about 7 years of legitimate, "sweat-of-our-brow" produced content.

We're on google's ad exchange. We've just installed a series of "widgets" like taboola. We've just started experimenting with content block survey's with google (still not running).

Yet, we produce very little money. Or, maybe we produce what we should, around $1,500 per month. For the time and energy we put into the site...man, it would nice to have a better payday.

I'm pretty sure if some of you had my site at your disposal you would be making a much more signifanct figure than what we are.

Looking for your feedback. And, give me all of your "dude, it's obvious, do x then y then z."

as an fyi, our demographics are upwardly mobile (richer), college educated (or more) and 50/50 male to female.

Any help or insight would be incredible. Thanks!

You can add a standalone ads on your site. It's like paid to review without a link. They could pay $ 100 transform their product review

$1,500 per month is quite low if you get 600k+ page views / month. How do you monetize your website?

    Some options:

    • Create a premium set of news/analysis that charges a monthly subscription fee.
    • Sponsored posts and/or affiliate promotion (be careful, though, you don't want to ruin your readers' trust).
    • Interstitial ads.
    • You're already using AdSense, but maybe look into where you're placing your ad units to improve clicks.

That's all I got off the top of my head.

Oh, and you could just sell links on this forum. (Feel free to sell me one on the cheap for all these great ideas! =p)

Before doing anything drastic, I would recommend optimizing your Adsense units and placement, this can make a world of difference. PM me if you need any help.

Get in touch with some direct response agencies and tell them what you have for sale. Offer them some good prices, and some of these guys might buy from you for months to come.

Make a review of a product (any product in your niche) and talk about how good it is

Forgive my ignorance, I'm not sure what that would mean or how we would make that happen?

We were working with several exchanges such as Casale, Burst Media, Local Yokel. We just did a redeisgn and cut down our ad units. So, our primary ad network for banner ads is with google ad exchange. We upped the widgets like distroscale and taboola. These platforms have a much higher CPM.

Yes, it is low. For two years, we tried to outsmart the banner ad networks. They won!

Thanks for the input. We've thought about subscriptions that remove all ads in exchange for a monthly fee. We are the underdogs in town and don't want to create a pay to see content sort of system.

I'm not very familiar with sponsored posts or affiliate promotions. I will look into it.

Interstitial ads? Are these the ads that pop up over the content?

I'm a bit confused. Selling links is against google's rules? I understand this is blackhat but I don't want to risk losing google.

I suppose you are a consultant? If not, how do you go about finding a consultancy that will work on a revenue share basis?

sell backlinks, lock content with surveys, sell affiliate products related to your niche. install a PPI campaign on your website and buy some fake comments for that campaign. i know its bad to do so but it will definitely help cz no matter how interesting description you write people always prefer to read comments without any action

Yes, are there native advertising networks? Would companies like taboola or distroscale be considered as native advertisors? If not do you have any companies that you recommend for us to distribute their native advertising content?
