I mean they just post new stuff targetting new keywords with the exact same 250-400 words article in every single post, the only thing they change in the article is the keyword they are targetting, yet these websites are all 6+ months old without a penalty, ranking fine and doing some fine money.

Does this mean that duplicate content doesn't apply if the content is from the same domain?

the thing is it's always these 3-4 sites using the exact same shit on every single post, just changing the keyword to the new ones and yet somehow they have managed to get away with it for months and months

If you post duplicate content on same domain it will be count as duplicate contentin Google eyes. You may also get thin content penalty .

Sure it works. There are thousands of sites with same content and they change only keywords (mostly only locations cause they`re collecting leads). And it works! If you change title and keywords in text then it`s not duplicate anymore unless a manual reviewer comes. But when the site gets slapped cause of the reviewer then it only takes ~20-30 minutes to get a new site up with the same system.

    Cheers

And what would be the damage on my site after these 20-30 minutes?

Permanent penalization, but the odds of having a manual reviewer on your site is very slim.

And the money you make before being penalized (if you ever are penalized) is more than enough to make 100 of these websites. You don't spend a dime on articles, you don't even spend time writing articles, all you need is to take care of the backlinking strategy.

OP, you can use duplicate content on throw away sites, but do not use it on your long term money site.

Exactly what I'm saying, if you check ahrefs most of them are 6+ months old and some are churn and burn and still alive

They might have some strong backlinks,I am sure. But whatever ,they can't have that freedom all day with duplicate contents. That has to fall down.

Yeah this works. Often it gets slapped with the next Panda, but it can work for months or even years.
So can spam links, so can a lot of stuff which Google says doesn't
It is a fair bit more likely to get hammered at some point, but the sites are so damn cheap to make (1/2 a day and $50 including hosting and domain reg) that who cares if it does? By then you've made 100x your investment and just move on.

I agree with some of comments its a churn and burn site

Once they get slapped they just reuse the content and build a brand new site with the same old material

What is permissible for Google is highly dependent on what is "normal" in the niche. If EVERYBODY in your niche uses duplicate then Google may see this and be less strict. But don't take this as a universal green light to use duplicate content. In some ecommerce niches the same product description is used by everybody, but its ok and Google sees that. Could be same deal.
