    Hi guys,

Im getting 800+ unique visits a day to my site, but only getting 8-12 email sign ups a day. Im using an aweber form in my side widget, and I use some in text email sign up forms. Very basic for in text, just an email bar.

How can i increae my email conversion rate? Could anyone point me to some resources, or guides please?

    Thanks

You did not specify if your site is a squeeze page OR a "normal site" with the signup form in the sidebar (I assume this is your option).

I would suggest you adding a "lightbox signup pop" (search for example for Popup Domination) that should increase conversion rate by "forcing" users to signup before reading the rest of the site.

    Hope this helps :D

There are a bunch of things you can do.

    Better content.
    Single optins.
Optin is accessible via mobile devices.
    Increase the optin incentive/text.
    Change the CTA text/button (font/color/misc).
Use a optin within the content or @ the end or just locking it in general if your sites content is even worth a damn.
Use a option to optin via comments.
    Get a sidebar scrolling plugin.
Use attention/notification bars like hellobar or ETC.
Use an entry or exit pop. Entry w/ a delay either in sec/min or location.

Split-test all the above, but don't include all the above.

Learn to use google, it makes you a better marketer.

I'll look to put a pop in / light box. I don't want to limit people from reading my site by forcing them to sign up however.

What's a good wordpress plugin to display an email signup form at the end of every post or page? I currently have to copy the form into the text manually with each post or page I write.

Also, I do get a lot of mobile traffic, my site is responsive. What is a good 'pop up' email capture that will work on a responsive site?

Lastly what is considered a good sign up rate for emails?

    Thanks guys.

The signup rate depends on how targetted your list is. For a decent quality list I'd expect 2% to 7%. More than that is a big victory. But this also depends on what the source of the email list is and if people know you, etc, there are lots of factors, but assuming nobody has ever heard of the sender, a few percent is expected. If they were lists of a club or friends, you could reach more than 10% conversion.

In light of the Snowden revelations, and the privacy issues involved, many people are leery of giving their email addresses.

People are suggesting that you compel others to give an email address before reading your content. This is a bad idea because you end up with a list of email address like FU@yahoo.com, or people just bounce.

You best conversion tool is to very briefly explain why someone should give you an email address.

Others suggest pop overs, pop unders, or exit pages. I am known to close a browser to get away from those. I would say that those methods offend others. An offended customer is no customer.

Didn't read other posts but I'll give a couple thoughts.
You have to decde on your goal. If your goal is to acquire email addresses, than you shouldn't be so worried about disrupting their reading. Don't go overboard, but something in the sidebar just won't cut it.

You have to look what you're offering. Without us seeing your site, we have no idea. You need some type of incentive.

You need to split test. Run one idea for a couple weeks than change it, and see what percentage you are converting.
Do even simple tests like changing the wording.

With my lead websites I have a 40% sign up rate single opt in. On my double opt in I have a 10% rate... although my single opt in's have around a 25% rebound rate...

if I have emails capturing as a secoundary, I have around a 5% with double opt in... i dont know what kind of site you have so thats the statistics I have... if you are unhappy with the amount you ate getting then consider some flasher opt in forms, for example on me secoundary site site I had a orange square which followed the user on scroll. And a catchy title. Just consider what Is eye catching. And test. With 800 visits a day testing will only take a week.n

The website is a 'normal site' that offers deals to customers & product reviews. (I monetise through affiliate marketing)

So the goal of the site isn't a squeeze page or to solely get sign ups, however it would be nice to increase my sign up rate so I can market to more of a captive audience.

Judging by your explanation of the site, it sounds like your website just isn't geared towards e-mail sign ups. Customers aren't enticed to supply an e-mail because that's not why they're coming to your websites. They're interested in whats on your website, not what you can e-mail them. The only way I see you getting more sign ups is by adding a sentence somewhere that explains that they can get the best deals e-mailed to them ahead of time or something.
