Hey guys, I have been building one of my sites for around 2 months now and have been building backlinks with anchor text with my keyword. But even though I have more backlinks than every site on the first page of Google for my keyword, I'm ranked on the 5th page. It's not my main keyword, but it's really low competition keyword. What's going on?
Maybe those other 4 sites have more "authority".. Also, is your content unique? If you have a lot of duplicate content, google will see your site as "less" important, and therefore rank you lower. I know when using blackhat techniques, you still have to think about some whitehat techniques too, unique quality content will always surfice...
The thing is, i haven't reached the first 3 pages yet, I'm at the same position i started at so it can;t be the sandbox right?
It could still be the Sandbox effect. Sandbox doesn't necessarily equates to fall in SERP. Oftentimes, you would stay in the same rank without any improvements. Do you mean 2 months for 7k links? That sounds kinda blackhat anyway. Hope your domain is old.
^The site isn't very old, but i'm ranking 1st for some keywords, so does that still mean it's sandboxed?
are your links ****************? are they good links? Better than your competitor's? if you answered yes, yes and yes, tweak your on-page SEO.
Your website might not be enought old for high rankings. You might just be in a sandbox. 7000 backlinks might no be enought. Make more and more backlinks and your website will get enought high rank to be number 1 in search engines. I've had this same problem with my first website, what i'm still updating becouse google adsense is getting me enought money to travel all around the world.
young domain name + crappy links = poo rankings. you will rank for the lower keywords but the main ones you will not rank for
I think its content - if you have fresh unique content it would be eaten up by Google however it maybe too that your link building may have been too fast and unnatural - or there was tonnes of low ranking stuff and nothing authoritative
Yup, those are the indexed backlinks as shown in Google Webmaster Tool and also in Yahoo SiteExplorer. There are around 20k backlinks yet to be discovered.
Building links too fast is not a good thing. You need to have traffic long before you fake backlinks and you need great content before you get traffic.
I've seen it before ... A site with 12000 backlinks (PR3) loses out to a site with 500 backlinks (PR4) Both site around 3 years old in domain age. But the higher rank ones has a few PR5-6 solid links. And that finishes the job. Pay for some >PR5 solid trusted sites and i'm sure you will get there soon.
