I have a client in the sports media industry and currently, they are having an average of 1.4 million traffic monthly and they've been trying to grow their brand to 5 million traffic for years but it's not been a success. They want me to come up with a digital marketing strategy to hit 7 million traffic in 9 months with 100% legal and white-hat SEO, and to be honest, I'm not very confident of this as most of my methods are black-hat/grey-hat. They are very strict about this as their CEO upholds a very high integrity and they have to account to their shareholders who are the government so any black hat/grey-hat or unethical means to grow their traffic is a big no no. They also are launching an eCommerce store to sell their merchandises and they are targeting $100k in the first month. I'd love to hear advice if this is even remotely possible? And for those of you who have been done this, how do you go about doing this? Would you require a very strong budget for this for White Hat SEO?

Just thinking out loud, but I would pose as marketing agent and offer paid campaigns, seo and social media.... in fact I think the latter is the most important aspect. Not sure where I would start.... probably ask for a fee for consulting and the proposed plan and give them 3 versions to choose from with no complete guarantee.... perhaps some performance guarantee.

A lot in here depends on what the product is, its price and how much they are willing to invest in promotion.
1.5M visitors can be a lot and can be nothing at the same time.

eCommerce site - is it going to be on Magento? There's few useful plugins there that help increase sales.

Doable, but they better be willing to pay for it. Especially since they've been "trying for years" and expect you to hit it in 9 months flat.

And even more $$$ if they expect that to come from SEO only. Which is going to mean a TON of content marketing through premium channels, likely a ton more content on their site, and so on...and that doesn't come cheap.

It can be done but expect to be investing big time. What I can say is there is a number of guest blog outreach services I have used almost every one of them and those would have to be the core of your "link building" you would be amazed at the traffic you can capture using blog outreach to get naked url, brand name and blog title links in volume. But it is super expensive and you need a real strategy from the content and site architecture perspective and if you make a mistake it sucks cause your spending 10s of thousands on links.

Let's face reality. Anyone who could do this would have no need to be asking here, and I think you know that. In fact anyone that could hit this target would be a fucking fool doing it for someone else.

I have no idea what platform the eCommerce site will be on at the moment, I'm guessing Magento or Laravel. They are selling merchandises of UFC and boxing, primarily targeted at MMA and boxing fans, fitness freaks and boxers. Their items averages around $40 to $50 and they are willing to invest a lot in promotion as I asked them for their budget and they said they have no budget for this, told me to give them my budget as they just got a big funding from the local government.

Indeed, they are willing to pay for it as they seem to have no budget/unlimited budget from this. They don't expect this to come from just SEO, they just stressed that if I want to do SEO, it can only be white-hat. They are open to any IM channels just have to be white-hat.

So you are recommending link-building? Say for example the said client is like something to UFC, wouldn't doing something like this be cheapening"the brand? Is there a more subtle and tactful way to go about doing this? As this isn't just a SME or a blog, its one of Asia's biggest sporting media network something like UFC/ESPN the likes.
