Unless i'm reading it wrong....How the hell did this site get

647,000 backlinks?

Seems like quite a few backlinks for a advertising agency!

Some pretty big SEO. Usually, a website with that amount of links would have much more social shares; On ahrefs, it only shows ~15 shares in each media type (Twitter, Facebook, etc)

aah I was like wow when I checked ahrefs.
but then I saw refering domains = "326"

Well the links are from only 326 domains so almost all sitewide links.

So that means that 2000 sites are back-linking to this site 300 times.

no it is the other way around

300 sites give 2000 backlinks

if you look at ahrefs you see that this is one of the sites that gives them backlinks

Not really, just means each site has the link on the homepage sidebar once, but a sidebar link will still display when you oen other pages of that site so therefore it appears that every page of each site is giving a link though it has only been placed once on the sidebar of that site. Hence its called a sitewide link.
