Adwords.
Update, I've been trying this slipstream method. Keeping a close eye on google trends and trying to cash in with the surge of keywords searches from users. You need to look from the top 10 downwards and get a feeling of what could be a hit.
Not surprisingly, the day after the oscars, the search term of "Oscars Worst Dressed 2008" was climbing the ranks. I searched for news regarding this term, came up with around 8 pictures of the worst dressed actors, compiled a simple webpage asking "Who was worst dressed" with my own personal critique. Had the 8 pictures laid out so voters could see and vote for their candidate and after voting, were re-directed to an I-phone giveaway promotion (e-mail for $2)

Not the best AVPC, but still not bad for that amount of time. This was actually the highest impression rate I got using adwords!

All in all, lost around $40.... This could be peanuts to many people, but I like to play small. Exactly for these reasons. Had I let the campaign run without paying attention, I would of been down to my limit of $250
If people are putt off from giving away an e-mail to a really simple and very attractive Iphone add, how the hell did they fill up huge survey's to potentially win $50,000 cash and a ringtone ??? I think there are cut corners from jeremy story... (Promotion for an e-book?)
Eventually I started another campaign to try and cash in on the Obama Photo trend, but I messed up my adds when setting up, and accidentally had the Oscar's campagin re-assigned to my Obama Photo Poll for 30 minutes and next thing I know, Google slashed me with inactive keyword searches at $5 a piece.
Google is one tricky system! Now all my campaigns whatever the subject are starting off with inactive keywords at premium price... It's as if my account has beend sandboxed... And the error wasn't entirely my fault, but should of paid attention anyway...
However, I really do like these scheme for e-mail/zip/win stuff leads. Just can't get it to profit... I need to concentrate on my Niches! (Check out my weakest link post)
