    Hi guys,

I'm a pretty regular reader here on BHW, but I haven't posted/shared a lot. First because there aren't many useful stuff I could share so far, second because I was busy with many things, including day job.

Well things have changed now, there is no more day job as of tomorrow (I "kind of" quit), and I'm willing to commit as fully as possible to this project/work/journey/hopefully lasting and prolific business I have in mind.

    So, about the journey :

The goal : building and ranking an authority website in what seems to be a huge, profitable, and competitive vertical.

The plan : creating a valuable website (I believe this is on its way, not finished however) and getting organic traffic through SEO, doing most of the SEO myself, as I'm low on budget.

The timeframe : if nothing especially unexpected happens, I give myself 6 month to see where I can get this. If no signs of earnings appear in this timeframe, I'll probably give up, if they do, well it will depend of the earnings. :)

The conclusions : of course, we're far from here, but there are some questions that could be answered in this journey like :

Can a competitive niche be tackled within 6 months ?
What kind of results can be done with DIY SEO in a competitive niche ?
Can I be something else than a lazy, daydreaming mofo ? (tough one)

What I'll share and what I won't : it may not be obvious for everyone, but there are things I won't share. The niche or example, or the website obviously.

Disclaimer : I will try not to share any detail that might compromise the anonymity and the safety of my website. I don't want any kind of negative SEO, competition indiscretion or bad vibes in general. (May God put all of these away from me. Ameen)

BTW, I'm muslim, this counts a lot for me, so you'll see a lot of "May God", hope it won't bother you.

There will be lots of things I'll be able to share though.

I don't have examples in mind, but I most definitely will. Please do not hesitate to ask your questions if you have some.

    The website concept :

Simply put, the websites reviews some products in the given niche. The way reviews are made are different from most of the competition, for severak reasons you can sum up in one : they are legit
What I've done so far :

    • Bought a domain registered a few years back (between 2006 and 2009, sorry for the discretion) - PR3, has main generic keyword in domain - pretty good brandability abilities.
    • Renewed the domain for several years. (Between 4 and 8 additional years)
    • Put some new, content on it, gradually (as I was writing it). I believe this is some good content too, articles are original and were written by me, and the website general concept is something I believe is much better than the majority of the competition. (May God make this true, ameen.)
    • Haven't started the backlinking yet (except an unsignificant number of blog comments that were more real comments than backlinks)

What I need to do next :

    • The very next goal is to finish the website. (Disclosure page, finish some of the review page too)
    • Write a bunch of articles I'll post to the web 2.0 I'll create. I've scraped articles with Scrapebox for inspiration/rephrasing purposes (a little more than 500, I believe)

My goal is to have 300 articles (Tier 1) written as quickly as possible. Since I won't have Internet for around 15 days (ordered a new line, need 14 days to be setup), I'll do my best to write those in he meantime.

So as you see, the goal is to have only unique, reabable articles for Tier1.

    I have :
Scrapebox (will be used for tier2 and 3 blasts)
    Time, lots of it
The budget for the website hosting (I chose a VPS for speed)
A little budget for Linklicious and a few gigs (Press releases mainly)

Well, I think this is pretty much it for the journey intro. Hope I was not too long, and again, please do not
hesitate to ask any question you may have. If your question falls in the "I can't tell you that category", I'll simply tell you that nicely.

Again, sorry for the secrecy, but I'm pretty sure most of you understand. There is still lots of room for good shares though.

PS : as I said earlier, I will have only sporadic Internet access in the next 14 days, beginning tomorrow. I'll do my best to answer your questions in the meantime if there are any. (I'll probably spend time at my family's where there is Internt access). I'll update and answer questions more frequently when my Internet access is setup.
    • Thanks Thanks x 1

It'll be interesting to see how you progress over 6 months, don't completely give up though. What your after might just come a day, week, or a month after. Well good luck with your journey!

Good luck! I have decided to do the same thing, but I may have to make a journey thread also to try to break my fear of commiting to IM projects haha.

    Thanks for your support guys

Agreed, but I do hope there will be signs of success before that.

    Ameen. :)

I've conducted a few projects before, hoping for short term results. I had some, but there was nothing to brag about.

Almost 10 years have passed since my first IM tryouts. So here is the new thinking : instead of failing at short term results, I'd rather commit to a bigger, long term business. It may take longer, but after all, time passes whether you're after short term exploits or long terms businesses.

    That's something I have considered.

But this would imply building, updating and seoing 10 good websites, which is not that easy.

I do have a few spares domains I have plans for though. Maybe I'll work on some also if the main website ends up doing pretty well.
