Seems like their strategy might have actually worked for them in some round a bout way and they didn't even have to pay for the promotion?

Like, I'm sure their website got a nice boost in traffic for free from this sarcastic article.

Haha, it would be better to know the author's interest in the first mail and avoid talking about money(especially if you're that cheap). There will be guys who does it for $100 when you pitch-in about those bulk orders, long term relationship, and blah blah. But in this case they picked up a wrong guy with all the details handed over already and made him look like a hero.
