Hey all,

Thoeretical question... Let's say you had created a windows app that was capable of generating $90k+ in revenue a month with around 500k installs. The software isn't malicious in any way, it doesn't steal from anyone, has a very modest footprint and doesnt use any network resources. Its not a folder/miner/spammer or anything crap like that. It doesn't get picked up on any AV scanner because its not a virus.

How would you go about getting it installed on over 500k machines worldwide?

The only way you can achieve that is to have affiliates pushing the offer for you. This means you'd sign up as a vendor with one of the cpa networks that have similar offers. Some example would be OgAds, CPA Build etc.

Do you think that people tend to keep the software installed after they have downloaded it from these networks? It needs to maintain a constant 'user base' of over 500k

This is where feasibility study comes in. Do a thorough research about your target audience and what they want. I'm very sure that if it's something unique, they won't have any issues leaving it as a permanent install on their phone/pc. I'm a witness:There are some apps I still have running on my phone even though I didn't intend installing them in the first place. So, I believe it all comes down to putting out something unique and then doing some marketing.

That is impossible to answer, without knowing what the software is.

If it adds value, people dont mind it being there.
If it is a stealth install people dont know it is there.

The easiest way for you to test would be to run a paid ad campaign and see.

Right now its stealth, but I could easily 'skin' it into another app - say for example, a defragmenter, or history cleaner so that it would potentially have a real purpose and reason for staying on the users PC.

I'll look into paid campaigns - hopefully the cost per install isn't too high.

lmao

If i was you i would put it in something useful then and run a paid test campaign. Then you will get some real data.

Once you have that you can either scale it yourself or jv.

You can say anything is capable of making 90k+ with the right traffic. But be prepared to burn some money to find out where that traffic is, especially if it is something someone has to download and install. I only ever see these campaigns running on pop networks.

It also does not have to be a virus in order for it to throw up a warning by an AV. I downloaded Windows 10 Update Assistant the other day and Kaspersky asked if I wanted to keep or discard it before I ran the .exe.

1. Make it like pc cleaner or pc specs viewer or something similar to that like u explained or something unique that peoples will actually believe that itll work.
2. Create a decent looking site, with tuts & examples of how to use ur app. explain what they will get out of ur app. ( a site dedicated to ur app, should look legid ).
3. Go post your app in some wares forums with good explanations & link to site, direct download, etc. it spreads like forestfire there, if u post in few warez forum, itll be in all forums faster than u think.

But it has to do something that peoples need or they wont even touch it.

If it is genuine software, you can always promote it using ppc, affiliates.

But I doubt that is the case.

Way merrier to promote Android apps. Flourishes real quick.

Getting people to install on their phones would be the easiest route. If you want to get it on desktops then you'll have to offer some kind of value. If you have to pay someone to install it, it's probably crap.

Partner with an ANTIVIRUS program or some other software that people ROUTINELY INSTALL

Another approach would be to promote it via a PPI program (pay per install affiliate program). Pricey alternative though.
