After some work I managed to get to the first page ( 4-7 position),but I get only 3-5 visits per day.

The keyword is ok - 270/day exact search - 16500/day broad serch - 740/day phrase search.

So what is the problem? Are all searches go to the first positions or ... ?

5th position you should get about 5% of the clicks, which means 13-14 visitors daily.

Are you sure that there are no other elements on the serp page, - like images, video, news - and you are below them, so actually you are 6th, 7th etc..

are you sure you do not check your serps logged in your gmail, or with your cookie present? Cause you ll get personalized results. If that s the case, try to use an external monitoring service.

are you sure you are nr 5 on google, even if you check from us, or uk, so there is no country specific ambiguity?

If yes, then it means that in the top 4, there is a very good websites that acts as a "brand" and attracts all the clicks.

Google keyword analyzing tool is garbage and gives you almost nothing.
It does give you perspective and directions. No actual data.
Working on SEO based on the keyword tool can be a waste of time and money and energy.

Better invest money in keyword research than spending it on SEO tests.

    No youtube,images,local map stuff ... Checked with MarketS,TrafficT,cleaned my cookies,no google account,tried 3 different pc's ( locations ) same result.

That was my first thought, but only the first two positions are relatively "authority" websites.

Can you give me an example/service for keyword research ?

PS: This being my personal website I am kind of restricted in my keywords.I can't promote my portfolio website (as a designer) with any keywords just to get visits, right ? And I don't want local rankings ( no money from design here ) .

Hmmm I'm with you Bross, I do believe Google is throwing the wool over everyone's eyes when it comes to their keyword traffic estimates. I believe they are inflating them all to get more PPC advertisers mouth's watering.

However I've had mixed results sometimes getting tons of traffic from terms that Goog said had good traffic and other times just like the OP got high up in ranks for a term with supposively good traffic and very little traffic.

I'm really starting to go with my gut in terms of common sense terms that I know most people will type not what Goog is shoving down my throat. I think the suggested search is one the biggest indicators of what real users are typing in. But curious to know what keyword tools you're using because almost all are based on Google's data other than WordTracker which I'm starting to lean towards more and more each day.

Go get your friends from other location or country even to check. Sometimes even with google.com the results can vary from different locations.

    or try anonymouse.org

I was directing my question to Bross. I know MarketSamurai and Traffic Travis are both pulling from Google API's so they are all one in the same. Wordtracker is the only other tool I know on the market that does not use Google. They instead use a bunch of small meta search engines to aggregate real search data. It's more like a suggested search results database. I've always not liked the tool but more and more I'm convinced that, that is the real power tool for hardcore SEO. Google is too shady

Same result. So there are two reasons ( at least that I can think of):

    1. Google ( and all the tools that are based on it ) is giving wrong keyword research results

    2. The first four positions are taking all the traffic ( highly unlikely )

So in the feature what should I do for the correct keyword analyses ? Is Wordtracker the ONLY solution ?

270 a day? so 8100 a month maybe change your meta description to intrigue ppl look at what ppl on the top 10 are putting in there and change it accordingly ...you don't want the same meta but you want to be similar but stand out

I agree with you on that. When looking at the number of local searches, I'm not sure if it is giving search data that is local to you or to the city/state being used in the keyword phrase being researched. Also notice that with all of Google's apps and such, users can't real-time analytics on activity of your local business listing.

Local search number is the most accurate number you can get from google, I dont know how really accurate it is but it definately reflects more or less real search traffic for that keyword.

For example: your keyword in exact match gets 16,000 searches, but in local only 600 per month. And I'm telling that from my experience - ranked #1 for keyword that gets 16,000 exact match, and competition is high, though received only 450 clicks from that keyword search.

Though this cannot be applied to all cases, so the conclusion - Big G will never give you the exact info what their customers are searching for.

If you only rank for the exact search I wouldn't be surprised with only 3-5 visits.

You should remember that google tends to lie and give false info regarding the exact searches per month.

I was ranking FIRST for a keyword that supposedly got 30,000+ searches per month, and I only got 150+ visits per day, and I had optimized everything on the site ranging from title tags to description.

It's a hit or miss, which is why I recommend that marketers should go after REALLY big keywords so you know that you can get lots of traffic. The key is backlinks via xrumer & scrapebox, having the keyword in your domain & title & description, and having LOTS of content that are not duplicates.

Now of course I'm not talking about trying to rank for "facebook", but really big keywords like loans, finance, travel, vacation, hip hop, music videos, etc.
