I currently have 5 blogs [2 adult, 1 wind generator, 2 technology], each gets about 250 hits a day, all are indexed and have a few backlinks; yet, I'm still broke and not making any money.

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong on these and I'm getting really frustrated, I've invested time and a little bit of money and don't see it rewarding me back.

Can anyone give me any suggestions to get these off the ground and moving?

Thanks.

1250 hits or 1250 Unique Visitors?

Either way it is very small amount of visitors.

How are they getting to your site? Is it natural search traffic?

How are you monetizing your sites? Adsense, affiliate products, amazon, ebay?

How long are people staying on your site? Are they coming and immediately leaving?

Are your ads placed correctly? Are they blended?

What are the topics? What are people searching for?

I can help you some but we need more information.

He said 250, not 1250, so that could be one of the reasons he isn't making any money.

250 per blog.

On the porn blogs I have a "peel" ad in the upper right, a MSN popup in the lower right, and a popup ad when they load the site.

On the technology blogs, I have clicksor, some popups, and adsense.

On the wind generator site I have popups, clicksor, peel, msn, adsense, and trying to get the viewer to click and but a guide to purchase a "howto guide".

maybe I should just stick to adsense?

I think you have to come up with a little bit more creative advertising options than what you've listed above.

Peel ads seldom work, simply because they are so easy to ignore and you have to be very interested in order to opt in to view the ad. People that visit porn sites are usually interested in porn, not ads :P

Re MSN-type popups I have my doubts as well. Even though initially a great method, so many sites are using it nowadays that people have been trained to be ad-blind.

Why not try some strategically placed context ads, recommendation-type affiliate links etc.?

for adsense, I guess 200 hits is not enough ..

Yeah, moxer's got a valid point.

Even if you manage to get a 4% CTR (which is unlikely unless you tweak your ads VERY well), tech-related clicks usually seldom bring you more than $0.10 per click, which makes your estimated monthly income on 200 uniques 200*30*4%*0.10 = $24
