sorry to steal homeboys title but i had to it's a good one.. anyways i have a keyword related to my niche and when i throw quotes around it i get about 5000 competing pages and the searches is at an incredible 18,000.

now when i take the quotes off it shoots up to about 1,000,000 SERPs and my question is will i still rank in the normal search without the quotes? if i dominate with the quotes will google rannk my page at the top even though there's 1,000,000 SERPs? make sense?

Yeah you should rank because their is very little competetion when the keyword is in quotes.

so my guess is right when i say google has so many SERPS when it's not in quotes because they find a lot of pages with those two seperate keywords ?

"keyword here" is phrase match and keyword here is broad match. There is a major difference when it comes to ranking and driving traffic.

You want to rank for broad match as the majority of people are not going to use "keyword here" and it's going to bring you the largest amount of traffic.

    they're two different things

your broadmatch means your keyword appears on the web but maybe not in that order, for example, if your keyword is purple monkey dishwasher it might appear on other pages such as monkey dishwasher purple or dishwasher purple monkey

phrase is exactly that and reflects how often your keyword appears as the exact phrase.

you will typically rank higher on phrase but focus on broad as its going to bring you more traffic from the serps

people actually do search the phrase though correct? i know it alters the search volume in the google keyword tool when i switch over to phrase..
