Hi, i got like 270 404 errors showing up at webmaster tool, this happened cause i drafted all my published post to slowly post them up, they where not indexed i guess it was because of the sitemap... now my question is, are these errors going to be fixed when all the post get publish again or do i have to do something at webmaster tool?. I was above to start a linkbuilding campaign, should i start it or wait till these errors are gone?.

    Regards.

If you republish the post and they have the same URL as the originals then they should clear up. I would def. go into webmaster tools and "mark as fixed" though just for your own organization. That's weird though, cuz unless the posts were live, they shouldn't have showed up in WMT. Fixing 404s is an important part of SEO, technical stuff counts for so much.

yes, it would be a terrible idea to build links to 404 pages.

still better to fix your 404 errors. Also, IMO its better to mix up a bit of links to homepage with some deeper pages. Diversity is the hot thing right now in link building, and it includes platforms, anchor text and linked to page.
