I received a lifetime license for ExtractNinja in exchange for writing this review.
We had a “rough” start where OP had to send me the link manually because I couldn’t get the email for some reason. Eventually, I received it not too long after, so I could run it and start.
After the download, I ran it through VT and got
this result with
2 out of 72 vendors who flagged the file. I believe it’s a
false positive, but I’m really not an expert. I based my decision on the fact that
every antivirus whose name I recognized marked it as clean.
The software itself is simple but
only available on Windows. The UI is super easy to understand, even for a noob like me. It still has a lot of room for improvement (both UI and UX), but I’ll get to that later. To run it, you must have an
updated Chrome browser. Otherwise, it doesn't work (it really doesn’t - I checked).
Things I liked:
- Super simple to understand
- It doesn’t require a proxy to use, although it’s required for multiple simultaneous extractions, according to OP.
- There are no extraction limits (it runs locally), and it is very affordable compared to other scrapers on the market.
- Yelp (and Yellow Pages) should be coming soon, and it will take this to a whole new level, in my opinion.
Things I’d improve:
- Some UI improvements include adding tooltips in the interface for guys like me who have no idea what “timeout” or “delay” mean and fixing typos.
- There is no option to schedule jobs to run back to back, at least not that I saw (you can go around it by creating one job with all the keywords you need, but then you’ll have to separate the Excel by yourself - there’s no option to know which keyword was used to get each contact), and you can’t add jobs in bulk using CSV.
- The separator (between words and URLs - |) seems like an odd choice. I’d go with a comma or line break to ease pasting multiple keywords in the same job.
- Add the ability to use columns as filters (skip if no email or phone has been found or if the profile hasn’t been claimed, etc.)
Overall, I give this an
8/10. It has almost everything I need, and with just a few small improvements, it could be a very rare 10/10.
I have already recommended it to friends.
