This is definitely not a dance, this is absolutely a penalty for automated junk links. I've got over 300 sites as proof. Anything that has been built with automated links including scrapebox, xrumer, bookmarking demon, article marketing robot, etc., lost rank. Everything with high PR manual links gained huge today.

Yeah, I'm curious as well. Stating that automation softwares are now useless is a big claim and leaves a lot of room for discussions.

My point was not that automation is bad, but if something can be automated, it can be spammed. If it gets spammed, google can devalue that link.

The principal is to find links that aren't being spammed.

I am happy to see this thread. I just scraped all my competitor's links and was about to comment on their open comment sites. I am reluctant to do that now. It may be better to find some high PR sites and comment there. Of course, finding an authority site without allot of comments and with High PR is easily said than done.

What do you consider "high PR manual links"? Manual comments from high PR blog comments, manual article submission from high PR article directories, etc. Just not sure what else is left if you take out article directories, blog comments, profile backlinks, social bookmarking, press releases sites, etc. The only thing left would be link exchange on another related site.

If it's been spammed, I don't do it. That's the way I work, and the way I train my link builders.

So do you consider Web 2.0 blogs and Article directories in the spammed category as well? Would you setup web 2.0 blogs for your keywords and submit to High PR Article directories or are you just referring more to blog commenting and profile backlinks?
