    Anyone know why this would happen? My rankings seem to be stuck around positions 10-15 on average. It seems as if Google is preventing it from going to page 1. It is an old site but we recently did new SEO on it deleted tons of bad links last year.

    Is Google preventing me from getting on page 1 or do you think it may just need a bit more time?

    The SEO guy working on my site thinks within 6 months it should get there. We're doing high quality type of links, no spammy link blasts or anything but it does seem to be taking some time, as in months long and bouncing back and forth sometime from 10 to 12 and 15.

    Thanks

    The things I would do in order if execution;
    - as Zevoltai said, make sure your on-page is 100%
    - make an appealing title and description to drive CTR, and make sure you keep them onsite when they do click through
    - sit around and wait.

    CTR alone will pull it up, if yours is better than those currently ranked above you.

    Are you close with your SEO guy? It's possible he's just dragging it out to get as much of your cash as possible

    Home Page:

    Was in the same spot you were and I had nice quality backlinks which was driving me nuts...

    What did I do? Added more relevant content and sure enough I am at pos. 3 now

    Yeah on page SEO content will definitely not let you advance. The sites entire PR and relevance to the topic will effect it. If you are trying to rank for a medical term and quality sites are above you it may be hard to get on page 1, it can be done. You would need to get specific backlinks from other sites dedicated to medicine or your topic etc. Just run of the mill High PR links won't do it.

    I get that but he seems pretty legit. He's making strong looking PBN type sites for my sites and I got interested in this company cause I found their own rankings impressive and he also spotted the bad SEO my last company was doing - spammy pbn's that are deindexed by Google, etc.

    From the start he said it would likely take 3-6 months to get me ranked so I'll keep him at his word. There is two months to go after this one. I spoke to him in the past week too and he said to give it 1-2 more months and he thinks the site should start ranking

    Something that bugs me about Google in the past few years is they seem to give less importance to on page content.

    Not that it doesn't help but links still seem to be the main thing. I am doing blogging relevant to my site as well - I even have one for news and another for educational articles which btw some of the sites ranking higher than me don't even have but links still seems to be the main thing.
