If you are in the business of selling your ebook, reports or software on DP or other forums then here are some tips which can increase your no. of sales of your ebook and also increase traffic to your site and may be even increase your site rankings and PR !

    So what to do :

    1. Make sure you have two versions of your ebook. One for giving away to reviewers and other for making sales.

The review copy should mostly be a hype copy of what your ebook can do and how other people are making money from it. It should also include a fair glimpse of how your method works. In the free ebook say that the main tools to make this method work are included in the main copy. This is basically a presell tactics used by many marketers. I am just using it in a different way.

    2. Include a page, as an affiliate upsell, at the end of your each free and main copies of your ebook. Make it as a personal recommendation (this will make sure that more people will check out that offer). Now, if someone happens to steal your ebook and give it away for free you still have lots of eyeball reading your affiliate offer. I am sure some of them will definitely convert.

    3. When you list your product for sale, use an easy keyword that you want to rank for. Also use that keyword in the name of your ebook. And not to mention, use the keyword in your main description of your product in the thread. Use a headline that has that keyword as well, in your thread description.

What this will do is, that people looking for free copies will use that keyword name when they ask for the review copy of the ebook. So you get easy SEO done for free :). You got keyword in your thread title, in your description headline, in your main description and people dropping that keyword everywhere in the entire thread ;) You will easily get ranked for that keyword in google in no time :D

    4. Be sure to put your website name in your report and in the main description of your product in the thread. Also direct link some images from your site if possible to add to the description in your thread. This too has SEO value although it is disputed by some experts.

Having a link to your website in your report increases your "guru" value and again, if it is stolen, lots of traffic to your site.

A direct link to your site from your thread will send people coming from search engine directly to your website. Especially if they don't want to signup to the forum to get your ebook. So you get instant xx% sales boost :) Plus you get lot of link juice as more people discuss reviews on your thread.

Some people look for reviews on google. So if you are promoting your standalone website at other places too, you will get searched on google, and where will they go? To those forum posts that you created, and read reviews on that thread, visit your site again thru direct link, and buy your book.

Just a few thoughts that came to my mind while replying to a fellow members PM.

And yes, the SEO tips work 100%. I sold a few scripts at DP for $25 and $47 respectively and that particular thread was ranked top 10 for what it was selling. And guess what, I got a number of inquiries just due to that. I could show you the actual proof to that but PM's are stored for only six months on DP.

P.S. Forgot, there is a new system in place at DP for tagging of your threads. You must use it for a good placement on search engines.

P.P.S And last thing, this method works only if your ebook is of real value cuz you cannot make people write fake reviews.

I used to, but now I don't. There are so many rules to follow and stupidest of things can ban your account so now I do other more profitable things than selling ebooks. Like selling services and outsourcing them to other people. = Easy hands free income :D

Also, I don't remember exactly how many cuz I stopped count after a number of sales.

One more tip. Include a number of blank images in your description thread. Why?? Cuz after some time your ability to edit your own thread gets disabled. But by simply updating your image file at your host you can add or edit to your description. You can also add reviews or remove them. you can dynamically change the pricing of your ebook or make a new offer altogether.

All this by updating one image file from your hosting site and without annoying the moderator; by asking them multiple times to update your thread.

One Day if I ever build up the self esteem to write an Ebook, I will
    Definitely give this a try.

Is it absolutely necessary to sell the E-Book, or could one just benefit from the free traffic from the Report, or Even the Free E-Book.

Sky's the limit. You don't necessarily have to sell it, giving it away is a great way to go about it, stress the scarcity w/out letting them know how many copies you've given away. Come up with a good hook for the title, keep the perceived value as high as possible, and you could see it go viral. You can pack it w/ aff links or other methods of monetization like creating upsell videos, links to software like PPI (pay-per-install), etc. Back-end profits will often be more rewarding than the small one-time sale on the front end.

You can very well employ this method to get free traffic. You will only have to do two things.

    1. Put a viral spin to the ebook.

How can you do that? Just add a way to make more money everytime your user gives your ebook away for free. For example this could be done by making the affiliate links in your ebook customizable by your user.

    2. Give it away for free or put a price to it and pretend you are selling but give it away for free. Pretend that you are doing a favour by giving your ebook for free to him/her :) This will increases guru value and your user will be more willing to spread that ebook to other people. So easy free traffic :)
