    Hi all,

    Background
I have been successfully selling second hand clothing on eBay as a part time business and built up a list of 32,000 emails from all previous buyers.
I have been keeping this list and not using it for anything.
Recently I created my own website and have been getting only a few sales in comparison to my eBay store. I am only using Google Shopping to promote my products and I would like to try eMail marketing.
Yesterday I went onto ChimpMail and created a free account and used 2,000 emails from my list to send a newsletter to previous buyers letting them know of my own web store.
I received TONS of traffic and generated 8 sales within the first 60 minutes after the newsletter went out.
But today I received the following email from MailChimp:

"Due to high abuse complaint rates, restrictions have been placed on your account.
Your campaign, "xxxxxxxxxxxxxx", sent from the account with the username xxxxxxxxxx generated a high abuse complaint rate of 0.73%."

"Abuse complaints occur when a recipient clicks 'report spam' in their email client. Exceeding abuse complaint thresholds can negatively impact your deliverability and sending reputation"

    Question
Can someone with relevant experience recommend how I can safely use my list without getting into problems such as above? I there is a possibility that it will drive a lot more sales from my own website.

Or am I wasting my time and should I stick to eBay?

I am happy to use a paid service, but not sure what one to go with?

I guess since some of the people purchased clothes from me on eBay a while ago they could have forgotten and therefore clicked the newsletter as "spam" hence my account restriction?

Do I just need a less strict email sending provider, other than MailChimp?

Anyone can suggest any options they have used?

    Home Page:

Did you add in the first paragraph who you were and why you were sending this to them? Also was the email spammy looking? The list is going to be golden for you, but you need to make sure you're not overly spammy. Let them know who you are and give them a great deal at your new site.

Just try any other, paid ones should be alright.

I've not had a problem using mailchimp to do the same, they're all targeted buyers so you should find one that works well. Probably better off getting a 'pro' to do it for you as thats a lot of sales considering its only 6-7% of your list

I have been in contact with another big bulk email provider... Send in Blue.

They basically said that I have to buy an IP from them as they cannot know if my list is opt in or not.

My list is not opt in, but all of the emails are eMails of previous customers...

If I buy an IP from them and send out emails and I get spam complaints like I described in case of MailChimp (see my first message at the top). Will only the IP I paid for be blacklisted or will my domain be blacklisted too?

    Anyone know this?

    Here is their email

Only ur IP will get blacklisted not ur domain
In case if your IP gets blacklisted , buy a new IP and start your campaign

Good point but since they have purchased from me already they would have more trust.

Also I tend to sell items which are unique or very rare and you are unlikely to find exact same item on eBay.

I guess I just need to try eMail marketing over a period of a few months and then assess the effectiveness.
