I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question, but thought of asking anyways.....is there any benefit of buying a bunch of fresh domains and 301 redirecting them to my site? I would think not because the domains have no history etc. My client bought up a bunch of domains that are just lying around.

If these are niche then redirect is generally best.

Won't help one bit unless you built some links to them before hand. However, with a lot of 301's your likely to incur a penalty at some point and take all the domains. Best to buy like four aged domains with trust and backlinks already and redirect those if they are very niche related and build new links to the new domain.
