Building links (blackhat) to a new domain and than redirect it to my money site (whitehat)

    * Is this safe for the money site?
    * Does this kind of SEO work?
    * Which domain will show up in Google?
    * Is it important to have good content on the new domain too?

Real quick thoughts, I'm at work...other are free to disagree and / or chime in as I'd like to get verifications on my quick thinking

    1) this is way safer than building blackhat links to your money site and the way I would go
    2) yes it does
3)the moneysite (301 says this site has moved and is now at forwarded to site
4)the new domain is what is going to show up, you need nothing on the site with the 301 as everything should forward (I'm assuming you are forwarding the whole site)

@Thedorf ... thanks for you ideas.

Don't you mean the opposite on point 4? The money site has already content, I would only use the new domain with a 301 redirect to build the links to. My questions is does this domain need content/website too?

It's a shame that the search isn't working on bhw right now. There's a ton of info regarding redirects on this site. I've made many replies myself with detailed explainations on how they work. If the bhw search gets fixed soon you should to a search for 301 redirects and you'll find a lot of info.

What Thedorf is telling you is that you only need content on the domain you are redirecting to. Any content on the first domain will never be seen after the redirect is in place. The domain you set the 301 redirect, as soon as a visitor arrives at the first domain it will instantly be redirected to the target site.

That is of course only in the case of a full site redirect. If you'r only redirecting specific pages or folders, then the rest of the first site can still have content if you want. It really depends a lot on how you set up the redirect.

@Greywolf ... as a matter of fact the search gives only old topics (2008/2009) about the 301 redirect :)

Exactly and thanks greywolf for helping clear this up as I misread which site was the new site. Maildigger you did get it right regarding point 4 so no the site with the 301 redirect on it (redirecting to the money site) does not need content.

Just be careful I've done this and forgotten where the 301'd site was! Had to go dig through backlinks and since they do not go to the indexed site this wasn't a quick search.
