301 redirect keyw domain or build site?

Hi,

I see more and more of the high ranking websites for dififcult keyw. that have keyw. domains pointing directly to their money site. This results the money site to rank higher for a keyword without containing the keyword itself in the domain name??? Is that how it works.

I have a 6 years old domain, which has 3 letters containing the full keword Im targeting, for this period it had a WordPress installation and aprox 200 articles there written by article writers during the years. It is ranking No.100 so far (didn't do any linking or SEO for it for a long time) so question is.. should I just redirect it to my money site or should I do SEO for it. If I do 301 to the money site do you think it will help rank the money site even higher now or ??

301s work like this - they pass the linkjuice and authority of existing site to new one. So, the results will depend on the domain you're using.

Only keyword based domain wont help much (unless it has decent links or metrics).

However since you've mentioned the old site ranks on #100, i'm assuming it has some juice. it should be helpful

Okay, will give it a try... not much to lose. Since postion 100 there will only be spam bots reaching it

301 it as you would be able to build links to both the main and the redirect.
