Hey folks , i have a question : for example i have website about bikes , and that website is well optimized with many backlinks and is on the first page, if for example i did 301 redirect to another website about bikes , what benefit will that website get ? Will it rank for keywords if both websites was optimized - for example word 'buy bikes.." ?

few months ago i 301 a penalized domain to a new domain, same niche, after 2-3 weeks the new domain had better positions in google that first site had.i spammed to death the 301 redirect and got #1 for the new site.anyway after exactly 3 months new site got fucked too.but i had enough time to cash in.did same thing with other 301 but haven't worked, this one was the only one that worked.

After 301 redirected, it will be replaced by new site. Most of the rankings will be passed to new one. But, when you cancel 301, you might not get the same position as before.

301 gets all link juice of the redirected domains, theres a few REALLY good guides here on bhw to properly use 301, try reading :)

It should transfer the link juice and SERP position given the on page factors of the new site are fine.

It will get something like 9/10th of the link juice I believe. Either way, it passes some link juice and this can be used to manipulate rankings effectively.

If you believe Cutts, it's 85% :) He said recently that it's the same as pagerank, which, if you look at the formula, has a 15% dampener on each transmission.
