Have you ever had a problem with a very powerful 301 hurting your rankings? We recently forwarded a 60DA 65PA with very like 30k powerful links to a money site and the rankings have gone down not up? The site was checked before to make sure no penalty and the link profile is very clean, the domain was not abused in any way all natural linking. Should we just give it time and leave the forward on? Thoughts?

Is the niche of redirected domain the same as target site? If not, remove redirect asap.

Relevance is imperative for 301 redirects to work today. Google has cracked down on the 301 redirect technique and it no longer works like before.

Just wait some weeks, if the rankings still go down, google catched your redirect. Probably the metrics weren't that good. I'd check every single backlink.

i don't think it is going to hurt your current rankings.Because if that would be the case then it can be used for neg seo too. So wait a bit more before doing anything.

I agree with remon24. I get jumps like this every time I do something massive to a site - be it a heavily sync'ed PR, linking up 40 PBN posts at the same time, or in your case a heavy 301.

Let it settle, and you'll be happy you placed it. Nice domain from the sound of it - DA60.

301 does not hurt your ranking. If the site is instructed exactly the same, and that no link has changed it's position

I've had a powerful 301 run over a site. The SERPs showed the 301 domain, not the target.

Don't do anything just yet. How much time has passed since you've redirected it ? Does the redirected domain has 'brand type' of anchor profile ?

Depends on how spammy that domain is , depends whether its niche-relevant or not and a few other factors ,

But one thing tho , 301s still work like charm

Well... I have redirected it a few times in different ways over the last couple months as I would get gun shy when I see negative movement in the serps. I am in a very SUPER competitive niche, so here is what I am going to do as a test and I will keep you guys updated as to what happens... I have a very difficult page to rank that is not ranking well. I am going to 301 to that page directly and just wait and see what happens. About how long do you think it will take to see positive/negative results? As far as the domain it is super clean news site from Germany, that even the local government links to a lot.., Harvard, CNN, Post, WJ etc etc... My main domain is a gossip site DA 50 PA 55.

The internal page that I am trying to rank and testing this on is currently ranked on page [7] 9-29-15

I only tried this once and it didn't hurt the rankings. They have steadily been falling for a year though. In one year's time, the rank fell 7 spots.
