    Hi Guys,

I have a site that is bordering at #11 and #7 for their targetted keywords, i have another domain that has been out the SERPs for around 6 weeks with a penalty, both are targetting the same keyword so i thought this would be an ideal time to 301 the penalised site to the new one (to give it an extra boost!), i'm just worried the new one may be penalised to.

Has anyone been in this situation before? do you think the new site will get hit by goggle?

    cheers for nay info guys

    Graham

if this penalized the target of the 301, then it'd be really easy to use that to penalize your competition

i have read that redirecting a domain will help the new site rank for a couple of weeks but the other site eventually will get penalized too.

If the domain is penalised, and de-indexed, then no, there won't be much effect. If you want to do 301 redirect, wait for it to show in the indexes, during the time, you must host the domain on to a different host, start building some links to it, post some good content on it, and then wait. Then, just take the domain offline for a couple of days and shoot the 301.
