I have lost some PR which seems to have coincided with a 301 redirect I added to my site.

    this is how things stand

    I am 301 redirecting

    mydomain.co.uk and
    www.mydomain.co.uk/index.asp

    to

    www.mydomain.co.uk

however on my index.asp page I have a canonical URL tag which points to www.mydomain.co.uk/index.asp

how SHOULD i be doing this because I have lost PR and approx 10 ranking pages since I applied the 301.
