    Hello,

I run a FB page which has 300k legitimate likes, none of them paid for, all very much engaged with the page. Its around 2 years old.

I began the page on another project which had some publicity, and the page was used to promote news stories from around the world from other sites.

In the last year, since that project ended, I've used the page to promote news stories on a website I set up. The website gets the majority of its traffic through the FB page. We average around 100k unique users a day, mostly US/UK based. On a good day we get 300k uniques. Our Facebook page has a healthy engagement rate too.

Now i'm wondering - what would you guys do? Am I missing any tricks in order to really speed up the likes on our FB page, or in driving traffic/monetising the website?

If you have 300k likes on your page and are getting upto 300k unique visits on your website daily, then you are definitely not doing anything wrong!!

You average about 100k unique user a day and you have no clue what to do with them. Unbelievable.

No, I do know what to do with them. I concentrate most of my time on quality content for the website and in technically and creatively running it. I haven't thought about any 'outside of the box' things I could do with regards to SEO. Hence my question.

I am monetising through ads, and it is a success. I just wondered if there are any other tricks i'm missing out on.

Are people actually reading the content? If so, start tossing a few CPA offers in there if they fit.

Also, start building an email list NOW... because fuck facebook. Who knows when your traffic will dry up.

I would do the usual stuff:

    1. put opt-in below every post and in a pop-up. then hire some good copywriter to write 10-20 emails (for start) and promote some great products or services.
    2. if you are using adsense then optimize those as much as possible. look for some case studies online.
    3. put some custom made banners that will lead directly to some CPA's.

I don't know any trick to speed up those likes, nor I would care about that for a second until I maximize revenue from those visitor I already have.
And one another thing - I would outsource "I concentrate most of my time on quality content for the website and in technically and creatively running it" and just work on scaling revenue (and visits later on).

P.S. I don't know in what niche you are, but with that amount of visitors you probably should be earning a sh?t load of money.

I'm in the news/politics/alternative news category.

Thanks for the advice. Our users are reading the content -and sharing it across other social media sites.

I agree I need to outsource the posting of content on the site a lot more. I'm a bit hands on, and need to step back to grow the revenue.

We do use Adsense and another ad network. Very healthy revenue. I'm sure it could be optimised further.

What would you estimate to be a good daily rate on ad revenue with those numbers? I want to gage how much optimising work I really have in regards to adsense.

I don't think anyone can estimate anything in this case. Or any similar case. We don't have your CTR, CPC... Nothing beside number of visitors.
For 100k daily visitors in that niche you could earn anything from $200 to more than $2k.
Because you say that you have "healthy revenue" I'm guessing that you are getting few hundreds, maybe 1k per day.

Anyway, most important thing is that I believe you still have a lot of work to optimize everything.

    GL with everything.

I think we're a little on the low side with our CTR/CPC - we get around 300 per day with those numbers, unless something has gone viral.

I think you're right - a lot more optimising to do!
    Thanks!

you should be looking at a base rate of $5 per 1k views. Adsense has been really slow these past few months, with similar sites as yours I had been getting anywhere between $10-$20 per 1k views, but currently its at approx $7

I'd say we are seeing around $3 per 1k views right now. Adsense has been a bit cheap in recent months. Peaked last November, then steadily declined. Traffic and engagement has increased over time though.

Couple of things you could do.
If your CTR is low then try tweaking your layout for better placement.
Make sure your website is mobile friendly, I made a couple of my sites responsive in last week and seen dramatic changes in revenue.

Using the MH magazine theme for wordpress (content area and right side bar). I've had some custom work done so that the content area is wider on desktop displays. The site is mobile friendly. I'm sure more can be done. Around 65% of our traffic is from mobiles, 25% desktops, and 10% tablets.

I have ads within the content - one ad in particular does very well, as it appears on the opening paragraph with the text wrapped around it.

Perhaps I need to employ somebody good with ad optimising to really look into that.

You're losing out on a lot of revenues. I own a network of pages myself with over 7 million fans and am in the process of starting a proper viral media site. I've been doing this for quite a long time and would be keen to share notes with you. Inbox me your Skype and we can def have a chat and I can help you with optimizing your site to get the most out of the traffic you're getting.
