I sell various accessories from home products, car/mobile accessories, phones and cell accessories. Most products ranging from $1-$15. I am opening up a new site and looking for a Alternative to my PPC campaigns which normally cost me an average of $0.15 per click with a 1-2% buy rate.

I have to spend a sh*t load of money to make some profit.

My promo budget is normally $2k monthly. Any suggestions on any alternative options?

look at your products carefully , find 5 products thats easy to get outstanding search postions on ... IE / position 1 or 2 on google , put all your efforts in SEO for these products , and ensureing your OFFER such as wording and images are great ..once the visitors come , they will buy and impulse buy ...put something on the site to encourage people to STAY ..a competition an instant quiz for a discount , even sell the 5 products at a loss for a while to get people to STAY on the site ....ten years of watching google positions closely tells me BOUNCE RATES are very important..... IE ..you DONT want people visiting and leaving back to google quickly ..... GOOGLES ALGOS TREAT BOUNCES VERY IMPORTANTLY ..you have high bounce rate no matter what else happens google will mark it down

If your site is full of flash and piles of images and very little text forgt it your beyond hope ... remmeber google is only interested in words and then *IF* it deems it good enough to send some people your way based on that , then it monitors bounce rates to decide if it was worth sending them !

Concentarte on getting visitors sent for FREE , if your products and prices are good enough they will stay and BUY , and google will know it , then it will send more visitors for the other products too !

Also keep your site VIRGIN , if necessary move servers and never mentiona link to the site in spam or black hat techniqiues if google mark you down as a spammer you will find it very difficult to recover without starting all over again with a different server etc . If you have not already done so sign up for analytic and google webmaster central

Your in a tough market , but get google to LOVE you for SOME products
and if googles users like you it will know and slowly but surely , especially in long tail products , you will earn !

Concentrate on google its a licence to print money .

Sell them on ebay.

You can push 10x the product that way and dont even have to worry about generating traffic because ebay does that for you.

Ill take the 2k for the awesome advice :)

Personally I think outsourcing CL, backpage, kijiji, gumtree posting is your best option.
For $2k you'll get more leads than you can handle!

Plus you're actually running something legit... and once you run out of stock throw in some email submits to the never ending stream of customers :)

Ebay sucks. 1 Million competitors. Also, have you seen there fees? Your profit goes straight to ebay and paypal.

I was thinking about this. I have some reps and was thinking about buying some US Proxies so they can do the posting. But after reading CL posting stories this past week with CL doing PVA sweeps, I left it alone thinking I would loose money

Anyone using CL, Backpage and/or Kijiji to promote a ecommerce site? If so, is it bringing traffic?

classified posting on CL, bp, kijiji, gumtree will guarantee traffic to ur site, provided the posters u hire actually post the ads they promise, and repost ads that get removed... even with spending $ for "featured" ads your per customer acquisition will be MUCH lower compared to PPC

You may want to look into newsletter advertising as well. Do a search on google for your niche and find businesses with complementary products or that are not your direct competition but still have teh same target market.

Analyse their website, review their content and approach them for a sponsored emailing. if the list is good, even if you have to pay 300 for one mailing, you can use it to get a lot of leads this way, and market to them...

So in essence, push your money into ethically stealing peoples leads;)
