    Hi BHW,

I bought a site off flippa.com for about $900. The seller claimed it generates $600 of revenue a month. When I took over the site, my adsense stats saw 0 revenue and 0 visitors. I contacted him, The seller had pretty bad communication, not replying to my messages etc, and I received a response a week later saying: "Hosting problem, sorted now".

My site suddenly jumped to about 10k visitors a day and I put 3 adsense units on there and it started generating about £15/day (~$25).

Now I looked at my adsense revenue and visitors, it suddenly went down to 0 visitors and 0 revenue. It has been like that for 3 days now. Is it possible that he's somehow transferred the hosting back to himself? (or whatever he did to increase my revenue, he's transferred back to himself?)

Any idea why this is? (Sorry if this is a stupid question, im a noob, just trying to get hold of the ropes).

All responses are really appreciated, thank you!

Im a noob and not sure if I'm allowed to post the link here, so won't just incase (you can PM me for it, not sure if I can reply yet though).

    You got scammed!

I suspect those visitors are pretty made by bots! I already posted a warning before buying sites on Flippa.. there are lots of scammers over there!

He sold you the site, sent bought traffic for 2-3 days and now bam!

And how could you believe someone earning 600$ a month from a site selling it for mere 900$?

Your adsense account could be banned later if those are from bot clicks. Not until payday.

Did you check the source of traffic? looks like you have been scammed. Looks like a bot traffic or some buy-cheap-traffic source. Did you check the Indexed urls in google for the particular site?

    What he said.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I know this has been pointed out to you several times but this should of really set some alarm bells ringing, this site would be turning over $7k+ per yr and you bought it for $900.!!!

This doesnt help you though.....What country is the seller in? How did you pay? Have you contacted Flippa? What is their policy on fake stats?

Have you had any legal advice because what this sounds like is a clear case of fraud and if Flippa have been complicit in this then a letter from your solicitor to theirs may have some weight because they have aided a criminal to commit fraud

If you have a site earning $600 per month would you sell it for $900 only?

Sorry, I posted a summary in the original post.

The seller was originally asking for $2000 but wasn't getting any bids above $700. He said he needs the money for a big project (a lot of them say that though, I know). I told him that ill give him $850 (plus western union fees, so about $870 total) as he won't be getting anything above $750.

It took about an hour of negotiating on skype and then he finally accepted.

Theres another thing, I've used a couple of services on fiverr to promote the site, I.e building Backlinks. Could this be a problem?

It was a guy in India, sent money via Western Union, his username is "cwa" on flippa.

His name is srinivas rao vemulapally.

I checked my link on google and it seems ok, it still comes up in the search.

Are you sure your Adsense code is still up? It seems unlikely that you're not getting any views recorded in your Adsense account if you're still ranking in Google.

First of all you should have checked the stats using teamviewer. You should have checked his adsense records and should have seen the analytics data if available. This would have given you the insight of the traffic he was getting and the earnings. If he was buying the traffic, you would have been able to see that. Just try to contact flippa and see if something works out.
You said you're a noob and still you went for an investment of $900 without any inspection or checks. Cmonn man, grow up and start investing in realistic ventures. Site earning $600 is sold for $900 - this should in itself raise the alarm.
Try to get your money back somehow. All the best!

Flippa is full of scammers trust me, they don't give a shit either if they really wanted they could clamp down hard on these kinds of sites but then 95% of the listings would not even be on Flippa....
