Would anyone still have a copy of this file? It appears the link is broken.
Had to post in this thread - fantastic method even now. I'm planning to implement this but with a few changes and targeting IT support leads.
Even trolling way back then
I bought frank kern notes on consulting / he is a master marketer.
Charges about $10k per client.
OP this is brilliant big time. Similar to what frank is teaching.
Frank says you have to sell this in person.
If anyone need the notes pls inbox me.
I have sent literally over 100 NICE mailers with badass business cards and a website attached and I shit you not I have not had ONE call! OP if you are reading I would love to have your insight on my tactics and what I maybe doing wrong. It is very disheartening to say the least as I truly felt this was a no brainer way of grabbing some business and I pretty much almost followed instructions to the tee, minus putting some proprietary work in it.
From what I see, there could be a few possibilities why you didn't hear back from even 1 person.
1. Have you tried following up?
2. Are you addressing to the right person?
Also, I would never encourage my resellers to send 100 letters at once. Instead, send them in small batches, 20 per batch, and test results from there.
Mailing is not the only approach to get new clients. Try attending local business networking sessions, or reaching out to businesses who promote their services on Groupon will help also.
Do you all think it'd be possible to start out without a website?
you are right, there's a sucker born every minute! I wouldn't even try this without having some sort of site and ways to demonstrate you know what you're talking about. Is it hypothetically possible to do this? YES, but the % are so low that it's not worth trying imo. If this is something you are going to do, don't half-ass it. Buy a domain, template, and hosting, you can be up and running with $7 a month hosting, $10 a year domain, $15 template...
You could be selecting the worst clients you would ever want with this method. There might be a reason behind their reputation, and also their business might be struggling because of it.
You could end up doing work for deceiving clients, not even able to pay you. Also they could choose to accept your services out of desperation even if they know they won't not be able to pay you.
If you are doing low cost gigs, go for it. If not be sure to check your clients financials before you start working.
Still a good method. Thanks for sharing.
True. Nowadays that is truly a bare minimum.
I can say that this method still works great. Keep in mind that it's been 3-4 years since the original post was posted. So the market is a little saturated. With that said it's all about the delivery.
- The debate on to give prices over the phone or not to. In my previous life - I sold hundreds of thousands of dollars of products and services. If you don't have to volunteer prices don't do it. If the customer asks, i would advise to not fire out a quick price, instead get their contact info and personal cell and follow up with a more detailed report and proposal. For clients under $500 a month you don't really need to visit them in the beginning, imo it's a waste of gas and time. Maybe after 6 months or so to keep the account going.
Awesome. Everybody forgets about snail mail, but when you put the effort in, it tends to convert.
Can anyone here share what their websites look like (you can pm me) just to have an idea what to compare against?
Old Thread but gold bread!
I'll give it a try. First letter sent out yesterday (1 only but really individually) with a must to reach out to me. I know, 1 is really bad for getting some datas to work with and of course I will be sending out more very soon.
Thank you 7878!
What system is best to use for reputation management these days? I'm really just looking for something standalone which will funnel the traffic to either emailing me or facebook/Google reviews.. I have seen some like grade.us but for what I need I can't justify paying a monthly fee
Sent out 29 letters yesterday. They will all be delivered today. Some have already been delivered. Already got 1 phone call and set an appointment for today at 2pm. I will post an update later.
Epic thread. it's been 6+ years but still ruled.
Tried it years ago and it doesn't work. I can't believe this thread is still going lol

it CAN work for some folks, however as i've said b4 its a time suck!
