Good article but it more accurately describes rich people who weren't born rich. The kind of people who get rich and rise up by meritocracy, not the people who were rich at the starting line.

Read that yesterday it is a very good article and I can relate to a lot of the points especially the one about average people would rather be entertained than educated.

I spoke to my Dad yesterday and he was wondering if my TV reception was ok, then it dawned it me that I had no idea, I hadn't watched TV in months.

I literally cannot watch TV, would rather be educated or work on my business.

All depends on how you define rich. Imho you need to have at leat 100 millions liquid worth to call yourself rich.

This is really my best pointer from the article.
Average people believe you need money to make money. Rich people use other people's money.

    Thanks for sharing :)

I would define rich as having enough money to do all the things you want to do.

For me, I just want to travel a lot and that I can do that comfortably for $1000-$2000 a month as I like travelling to non-western countries.

Most people wouldn't define $1000-$2000 a month rich but for me it is, as long as I am also time and location independant.

Having 100 million liquid would be a waste. It should be working for you not sitting in an account.

Rich to me is living comfortably, affording regular fun, setting your own hours, and enjoying what you do. The amount of money a rich person to me has doesn't matter as long as they are living well. Most people with a lot of money are not happy at all remember.

Definitely a good post. In these days of "economic crisis" and huge unemployment, people keep blaming the wealthy for their own short comings. They seem to think that theres no way they could possibly get rich and that its hopeless. That precise attitude will ensure that they never amount to anything.

I would say being rich is if you don't have to work for the rest of your life and still can live a litle above the standard of the average citizen....
3 or 4 million would be more than enough....
But I guess even someone with half a million, own house, without debts is a litle bit rich...

The last one,is featured in so many movies, perhaps the greatest example is the one from 2000/2001 with nicholas cage in it,can't remember it but in it he is a very wealthy stock broker and an angel shows him how his life would be if he choose family over money and he is a tire sales man in the second life.

The either or is completely stupid, you can have even more time with your family if you have more money.

That was a excellent post! Enjoyed reading it, there's just one problem though.

According to that blog I've the mentality of a rich person.. I get up every day and drive for success instead of waiting for it and would much rather spend my time reading, learning and working on what I enjoy instead of going out with mates haveing a good time. So why aint I rich :p

One of the most tasty articles I've read in a while. Will re-read it again every now and then. Will comment more profound related to it after some time in here.

    Thanks for this article :)

I think the main difference is that most rich people actually took action, while 'average' people just waiting for a miracle to happen.

If you sustain, or rather expand your way of thinking, you'll only attract more money on the long run. So keep it up, do what you love, and do it with extreme passion, don't aim for money, rather aim for the success that you have predefined in your mind (the big picture), and you shall get there soon :)

Oh, and btw OP, great read.. thank you for sharing this!

Neat article. I definitely fit the average mindset but I make a good living.

The owner of a 150 foot super yacht in Asia told me once - "Other peoples time, other people's money". This can really be applied in IM just as well, especially the "Other people's time". Outsourcing is a way to scale your earnings.
