So I figured I would post this useful information for you. It's good to know who the big dogs are in the e-tail world. Even though this is technically old news, you may find it useful in your future endevours whether you're a promoter or a cookie stuffer.

The 3% drop in 2008's online holiday sales was reflected in the stagnation of traffic to many major e-tailers from Dec. 1 through Dec. 24, 2008, comared to the same period in 2007.

The list is in the following order
    Retailer - Affiliate Network - 2007 Uniques - 2008 Uniques - Percent Change

    eBay - EPN - 88,894 - 85,442 - -4%
    Amazon sites - Amazon - 70,975 - 76,240 - +7%
    Wal-Mart - LinkShare - 49,632 - 51,546 - +4%
    Target - Google - 47,338 - 46,837 - -1%
    Apple (Store) - CJ - 29,450 - 35,017 - +19%
    Best Buy - CJ - 28,602 - 28,555 - 0%
    JC Penny - Linkshare (private) - 21,329 - 18,918 - -11%
    Toys "R" Us - Linkshare - 19,817 - 18,075 - -9%
    Sears - Google - 18,010 - 18,413 - +2%
    Circuit City - CLOSING ALL STORES - 19,466 - 15,456 - -21%
    Overstock - Linkshare - 18,911 - 15,951 - -16%
    American Greetings - CJ - 17,273 - 14,666 - -15%
    Hewlett Packard (Compaq)- CJ - 15,217 - 19,425 - +28%
    Dell - CJ - 17,279 - 14,305 - -17%
    Macy's - Linkshare - 15,715 - 15,868 - 1%

There it is. Once again, it's a bit of old news, but good news. You should be able to use this info today and in the near future. Thanks, please if you found post useful.:)

I buy on eBay for everything. Why not Christmas? Are you for real or was that a joke?

I think it might have something to do with the fact that a lot of the items cannot be relied upon. Out of the 5 items i bought on ebay last year, 1 had no issues at all. 2 were not quite as described, 1 was faulty (sent back no refund) 1 was fraudulent (paypal refunded ..... eventually).

This is why I would never rely on ebay for anything birthday / christmas related anymore.

I know there are more legit traders on ebay than dodgy ones but the fact is I feel a lot more comfortable buying from a well established shop or etailer where they have established returns policies and I have some GOOD experience with.

    Just my 2pence :)
