2 sites, different niches. Can I use the same hosting for both sites w/o penalty to SEO?

I am on a ?semi-dedicated? server at the moment (shared hosting with low user base). I have an established website that is a little over 5 years old. It is in the tech niche. The CMS is Wordpress with a unique theme.

Next month I plan to create a new site. It will be kind of a personal blog / review site. It will not be related to my tech site at all with the exception that I will be laying claim to both sites (I will be claiming both on my Google Authorship circles account). I will have 1-2 links pointing from one site to the other. This new site will user a Wordpress CMS (unique theme)

My Question: Since both sites will be on the same host using the same IP, will this hurt the SEO on any of the sites? Should I rent hosting using another, non-related provider for the new site?

I have never had an issue with this... I think most people choose different hosts to stay on the safe side!

Yeah I try and split things up when I do that but you are connecting with google authorship so you will have that link no matter what IP addy you are on.

I prefer not to link between these 2 sites. You'll never know

I have never had any problems with having more than one niche website on the same server I believe that seo hosting companies rely on this myth to sell more servers. However that is just my thoughts on the matter.

Like others said no problem with multiple hosting. But, when using same IP ? Sure, you will get caught by the Google. Use unique IP for hosting otherwise no problem with that. Also, If you have money to spend then you can use separate hosting too.

To tell you the truth I don't think it matters much, I have had somewhat 10 sites on one IP and they have ranked

Correct, Many shared hosts give the same ips to their different clients.
does that mean the sites will not get ranked? (The answer is no)

Its been proven that links between sites with the same ip pass less link juice. However, I doubt there is a large enough footprint for google to notice

I'm sure it will be fine. It's only two sites.
