Probably something to do with the fact the domain has almost 18k backlinks. As for the keyphrase, could possibly be a 301 redirecting the anchor 'where to laminate'.

So Wisegeek may be using some blackhat redirecting tactics too?

I've noticed Wisegeek with a lot of high rankings. I think it's a lot of overall incoming links, and internal links. Similar to wiki.

Theyre not a content farm right? You can't just post on their site.

    It is possible.
JC penney and overstock are doing blackhat stuff everyday.

I was interested by this trying to get to number one and dismayed as I see the number 1 spot taken by others with no backli9nks at all and not even the keyword in title- not exact at least.

It's interesting to know this as we can ascertain that linkjuice does get passed through the whole site.

The one in question was pr7 so I spose that is the main reason in this case.

Sometimes the domain authority can itself get you ranked for unexpected keywords.

Over the last few months I see Google giving a lot more credit to domain authority. It seems the bigger sites are getting stronger and the little guys getting penalized.
Seems like they don't want little sites anymore, they want huge niche sites to rule. Wiki, Google, WiseGeek, etc etc.

This too. I have an authoritative white hat site. Last year I contacted a blog owner about reposting one of her articles on my blog, because I thought it was an excellent read. Within a week I started receiving a ton of traffic to the post, and found the page was ranking at #1 for the title of the article, even though it was duplicate.

Yeah, I notice this with authoritative bloggers too. They have posts that rank high for competitive keywords with very few backlinks in YSE.

I doubt if he'd would be using 301 reditects, also the domain has got authority so why would anyone do blackhat tactics with his site.
Seems like the page is ranking purely based on the authority and content i guess
