So my 8 year old woke up friday morning 102 temp. My wife took care of him, and I spent time with daughter all weekend. She woke up today with 102 temp. Guess what they both have. Yup H1N1. I hope my wife and I dont get it, along with my other 2 kids. 1 of them has a medical issues with his lungs and were trying to keep him secluded from everyone, hoping he doesnt get it.

H1N1 is just as common as a regular flu. I personally wouldn't give my kids the vaccine. It would be safer to have the doctor prescribe them tamiflu.

Aww, hope they get better fast! In my country a week ago started to give out the immunization vakcines.

Our prayers are with you and your family!

Our prayers? His kids are going to be perfectly fine.

People should do research on the swine flu before considering it deadly. People die of the flu every year and this is exactly the same except a hyped up version of it almost like the bird flu.

We as a whole community will pray for well being of your childrens.

You are better off getting it soon then later anyway. By the way, H1N1 has one of the lowest death rates compared to other flus because it has been receiving so much attention and people are quick to react to it and treat it. You and your kids will be fine. Hope they get well soon.

They have been prescribing tamiflu for 2 of them. However, where I live, last night all the pharmacy's in town all out for the next few days. I won't have them get the vaccine. I've heard good and bad things about it. Nicholas, who has the lungs and medical issues, is the most of my concern. I hope he doesn't get it. He goes in the hospital with the regular flu, so this will hit him harder if he gets it.

Protect yourself when handling them, so you don't also get caught be it.
H1N1 spreads very easily.

See the good side: only very few people die from h1n1 at the moment, usually only people who have been very sick with other stuff before.

The real risk is that H1N1 mutates and comes back in a few months, if that happens then your children will have a strong resistance due to their current infection with the "mild" variant of the virus.

Dude, what is your problem? You've been registered here since June and 1 of your 9 posts is to bust someones balls for well-wishing a guy with sick kids?

The swine flu is hyped, and although it does kill people, the majority of us don't have to worry. However, the research does show that it has a higher mortality rate for those with other health issues (i.e. his other child with the lung issues). The prayers weren't just with the already sick kids, it's in hopes that his other child doesn't get it as well.

well, my sister is a nurse and works with kids and like 3 died last week from h1n1 where she works. i think she said it causes respitory failure and that's the fatal part. she said this is bigger then people want to believe.

Maybe it's to do with the area or something because over here in the UK, I have had about 12 different family members who all caught the H1N1 strain and they just suffered with pretty much standard seasonal flue symptoms.

Even my step sister who is pregnant picked it up and she turned out fine too, just got Tamiflu and vaccincation because of the baby, but she just got standard flu symptoms nothing more...

From what I have gathered, or at least in our country anyway, you are only at danger if you have other underlying health problems, but that said, you would be in the same danger if you got bog standard seasonal flu too so? Go figure...

yeah, come to think of it, i think she said these kids had other issues that made the vulnerable.

I (and I suppose everyone else) on this forum will hold our thumbs for your kids to get better...
