    Hi guys,

I have been backlinking a 2 month old domain with 5 pages of unique content. The homepage has about 600 words on it.

It is indexed but not ranking even for the domain name.

Is Google just not ranking sites with affiliate links anymore?

If so, is there a handy way to cloak the affiliate links so Google won't see them as affilaite links?

    Thanks!

    Check your SEO strategy.

Does it matches with the keyword competition?

Do you have enough number of backlinks?

    Lot more factors are there.

Your problem is in Green Above.

Brand spanking, wet paint sign attached, yellow tape around, dripping in amniotic fluid site with little content.

I was thinking this might be the problem alright.

I am just afraid to invest in more content if it is not going to rank because of the affiliate links?

The competition is probably medium at most which is why I am kind of baffled.

Your affiliate links, as long as they are not stuffed in there like a Thanksgiving turkey, should not preclude your site from ranking all things being equal.

I have about 5 or 6 deep links on the homepage...with about 600 words.

It makes sense the way it is written.

Would this be a bit overkill?

No, that is OK, I usually have close to 3 times that much content on my home pages though... that is something to consider; also go ahead and start adding content on a regular basis to the site.

Domain age, if your is a new domain , it will take longer to rank.
But this is subjective, not apply to all.

I pointed 10 PBN links to my website, and it's also not ranking, but just keep the velocity up.
Keep building links and adding content. (You should have at least 30-50 500 words content)

In any case, if the website is gone, you can always re-use the content. Once everything is de-indexed.

Heh, I couldn't have said it better myself.

Your affiliate links shouldn't be posing an issue. I personally like to cloak them though. If you're using WP as your CMS, you can use the plugin Pretty Link. This will also help you keep track of your links.

I believe you have to nofollow all affiliate links. Also make a redirect in .htaccess so yourdomain.com/out/buyproduct/ goes to the affiliate site. Then block robots from going on /out/ on robots.txt.

Are you sure you're not trying to rank for a difficult keyword?
    And yes, add more content.

Check your onpage seo. It may be overoptimized. You can use affiliate links on website but not more than 1-3 times per page. Also ch eck your offpage seo, like anchor diversity, etc.

    On page SEO seems okay.

I added another 500 word post today.

I haven't made a site in a few months but when I used to 3 or 4 days later it would be ranking page 4/5 with on page SEO only so this has me stumped.

The competition has a few high pr sites but very little content and little optimisation.

I will keep this updated for people who are interested.

Personally I would never start building links to a site younger than 6 months old. I would start building heavier links after 1 year. When you hit the 2 year line, you're in the authority stage and can really burn up some keywords. Until then, work on human interaction for your design, add content, build the sitemap to function better for bots and have a frikin coca cola.

google is ranking affiliate sites. it will never die. You don't worry about affiliate links. just try to improve the quality of links. may be some PBN and SAPE. You can rank with the same site
