So I have been tracking some medium competition keyword niche's serps, there was a website ranked #1 with 0 backlinks. It got banned like a week ago, and today I saw that the owner bought a new domain 2 days ago which is ranked in page 1 today. He 301'd the domain that he had ranked before and then got banned?.

Is he using SAPE along the 301 redirect? Or in the domain that he is 301ing?

How would we know? We can't check his website, we can only speculate without us being able to check it. Don't list it here, though.

Obviously not. 2 days old domain, 1 301 redirect, 0 backlinks. What else do you want to know?

NO one can tell you without looking at the website and the backlink profile. He may be using 301 or SAPE or maybe his own private blog network made for that particular niche which is hidden from best known backlink explorers.

If his other site got banned for obviously blasting his site to get to #1 and getting caught, then him 301ing a new domain isn't going to help.

That's what I tried to tell him.

Well he is above me now with a new domain so it's def helping lol. He's not doing anything out of the box, no pbn, just 301. Public whois, I looked up for domains linked to his email address and they use a 301 redirect as well. I have been ranked for that keyword #1 for more than a year. I'm just wondering if such 301 can be that powerful.

Yeah, 301ing to the top definitely works. It's not a permanent thing, though. In my experience, the sites that are being 301'd need to be relevant to the niche for the rankings to stick. Though, you can circumvent that by proper link building.

I have been 301ing four websites for the past several years. Never had a problem. Most six months to a year after the hit. One on about 1.5 years now

You're solely 301ing? No link building at all?

301 works to pass 90% of your link juice

    but

if he rank #1 now again
i doubt its only going to stick for a month, lucky if its keep ranking for atleast 2 months
but if he fixed the issue on his website, rankings to the new domain will stick..

im sure he's old domain have a links
301 redirect pass those links power to the new domain

Oh, I'm not disputing that. I know 301ing works from aged domains with a good backlink profile. I normally build links to my 301s.

Both. Websites seem to get stronger every year.
