While contacting my web provider support:

Hello I need a line adding to the server .htaccess redirect so my site points
​

to http://www.*********.co.uk and not g**********.co.uk . Hope this can be arranged ?


This was there dumb response

i did what i thought and it took them both offline

well i did redirect 301 / http://www.mysite.co.uk

and it stuffed it so im not sure what i need to add now

1and1 are rubbish, I once bought a couple of domains from them, big mistake the control panel was the worst i have ever used and support was complete shit. I wouldn't take free hosting from them.

yeah i know but im a bit stuck now, the site is taking time to get going. Once i get some sales ill move to a server of my own but i need to make some before i do that. I still carnt get to root to add the info as its read only and they said "consult a local web designer" the friggin thick support ive asked em to move it to tier 2 support think thats a larger monkey on the next desk but they wont do that and instead just beat there chests grunting,----> wankers

I had a crappy experience with them as well in the beginning of my web design days.

They try to come off as big shots with all their 2 page spreads in the magazine, but you're right they are shit. Even after I canceled my accounty with them they were still charging me.

I currently have a VPS through http://www.zyonsupport.com/secure/zyon/aff.php?aff=293 and when something goes wrong they're on top of it.

I've been through a lot of web hosts and I've been the happiest with them. However, I agree with darkAsPitch. Buy a server and they'll be all over your nuts trying to keep your business

The ARE rubbish when you need somebody for a problem...and THATS the important thing at some day. They hav eone of the most aggressive commercial campaign in germany; and the worst support, EVER since - was the same 2001.

they don't waste any time to throw your account to collections either, they are a pain...

if you haven't solved your 301 with the .htaccess code, I believe you can also set it up in google webmaters if your using that. but .htaccess is the way to go imo.

ME EITHER! It took me over a year to get my domain transferred to another host.
