    Hi all,

I'm currently juggling a few Instagram accounts and selling shoutouts with Followliker generating my leads. This is pretty good money and all, but it takes time to do all the selling and talking to potential customers.

I'm looking to automate a little bit by getting into aliexpress dropshipping. I tried my own designs with spreadshirt, but they won't sell.

So here's my question... My niche is very targeted: fan pages for a hip hop celebrity group. I have over 120k followers across the accounts. Now, on aliexpress, I found "fakes" of their merch (socks). They have a simple design with their group logo on them.

What I'm wondering is, could I create a simple ecommerce site to sell these without getting in trouble? I wouldn't be claiming they were official merch or anything, just selling the socks and promoting off instagram. Could some type of authority investigate my site and somehow get me in trouble? There are no names nor the name of the brand on these socks, just a design. There are multiple items (shirts, beanies) of it listed on aliexpress, some(the socks) with 400+ sales.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm ready to jump in and make my site I just want to make sure I'm not going to get in trouble.

There's no other way to find out except for trying it yourself. You mentioned that your niche is targeted, and you have a huge number of followers. IT WILL WORK. I tried drop-shipping but it didn't work for me because I don't have what you have. Instagram is a great place to sell.

This isn't exactly a journey, everyone... I'm asking for help and/or insight here. Does anyone think I can get in trouble for this? What are the odds of some authorities actually coming onto my site and then verifying that the items are fake and then proceeding to get me in trouble somehow? If it was reported, would I get a warning to take them down first before I get in trouble? I don't know about any of this but I know these things are all my followers will buy. Thanks anyone & everyone

They are a little different. Slightly difference color scheme (different color stripes, toe, heel, etc.) but have the exact same logo. No words of the company or brand, though. Just a logo (not even the official logo, just one of they're logos/images).

I know it will work, that is not the problem. The problem is whether I can execute it without being caught for faking the clothes, impersonating the maker, etc. Some of the followers are hardcore fans that may try very hard to make sure they are real

Selling fakes AKA making money of the brand name of someone else without their permission can lead to a lot of trouble. I wouldn't risk it.

Can you dropship something more official?

I would not sell fakes, if you are making 500$/month by shoutouts I would focus on it in my opinion.

One big question is where are you from and where are most of the followers from. There are two potential problems. The first is if you get prosecuted in your country or if you a cease and desist from the brand owners. If it's something that's like their brand but not exactly their brand, the most likely thing would be that you would have to stop selling the product if they threaten to sue. But it really depends on the country where you are located. There are countries where they can't really do anything about it, especially if you get offshore hosting for the shop. The second potential problem is what your customers would experience with dropshipping from aliexpress. The problem is that the "cool goods" will be shipped form China which would make them appear as fakes, the delivery times will be high and some countries try to stop counterfeit products at the customs. This can create some negative buzz especially with hardcore fans. So in your case the risks might just outweigh the possible rewards, but it's something for you to decide. In the end, you will not be the one shipping the products.

But there is something else you could do to monetize your accounts with dropshipping. You could create a shop where you should add some really cool original products by the artist which will be the bait and will always be sold out but it will be what you will share to lure them to your shop. And then, you should fill your shop with some real aliexpress products that don't claim to be by this artist, but that are likely to be bought by the fans, so you will actually will always be in the clear. It might be a bit sneaky and I'm not sure if it will convert that well since I've never tried it, but it just might. Or you can omit the whole sneaky sold out originals and just create a website with products that might be compelling - similar to the products the artist sells, but not claiming to be his brand and see how it goes.

Oh, and obviously if you have regular customers that buy shoutouts, check what they are selling and start selling something similar - if they keep buying shoutouts from you, it means your audience is buying enough of the type of product, so if you play your cards right, you could be increasing your earnings cutting them out.

congrats you are my hero. very proud of you. be weary on the forum here. people don't share "free info" it seems. take everything with grain of salt. can you make yourself a Facebook page and twitter for backup so you can drive traffic back and forth? i would recommend that if you can so you have varied platforms.
