Now, has anybody got any connections at Goldman Sachs?

Friend of mine used to be an area manager for a UK based coffee house chain. He had a guy working in one branch who did shifts ovr 3 days a week, as he was a student. The lad also worked part time at 2 other companies all to get the staff benefits and work experience.

Employee perks was one of the main things that pushed me to choose a mid-level analytics job over a director of SEO job last year when I was hunting. The pay was slightly higher for the SEO role, however:

The SEO director position ($XX,XXX,XXX per year revenue company) came with one week of paid vacation per year of employment up to five years, zero insurance or other benefits, but a "communal fridge" was listed as one of the employee benefits.

Meanwhile, this analytics role ($X billion per year revenue company) came with three weeks of paid vacation annually that began accruing immediately, health vision and dental paid for, a 401k match and ESOP program, plenty of paid training and equipment, three-days-per-week work from home, and travel points get pushed right into my own reward accounts.

Next month marks one year there, and I've already received a raise and a bonus (relatively unheard of in large corporations where you're a non-managerial role in the first year), over $10,000 worth of training and conference, and over $4,000 of 401k employer match (free money).

At this point, the benefits alone far outweigh whatever salary variance existed between the SEO and analytics jobs. If you're looking for a 9-to-5, read through all the fine print and make sure you ask about perks and benefits.

BHW: Mods get free mental healthcare to compensate having to deal with people like me.

It’s probably a good idea for me to get a job at Zappos, so BHW could reallocate the money towards some other area.

in the city banks if they have a good year every person get over 200k bonus that includes toilet staff .

there like a big working team , bonus and wage are divided between everybody, not just the stock bankers .

the party are wild , presents are fantastic any think from a car to a rolex

every single year this happens

I met a guy who told me that in his previous company most of the interns were made to work for free for 1-2 years. There was competition to get even those spots.

That's the sad truth about India. There are more students than the job and hence a stiff competition.

Even for a $200/month job, there'll be at least 100 students competing each other.

I personally feel it's all because of education system and parent's mentality who force their kid to settle for less but have an office job.

the problam with india is the boss of the company get very greedy and seen as a special person , which i think is stupid over money .

they need to invest in more business and employ more people .

there many internet marketers make thousands a day that move or live in india and dont share there welth very sad

seen it for my own eyes

poverty with all the rich in india should be solved.

You are right here. The companies doing that are profitable and can at least pay the salary. They are just exploiting the helpless unemployed youth for more money.

Indian businesses are fu#ked up
I have seen many talented people doing job at a very low salary

Most companies these days provide some sort of employee perks as they realized it is often cheaper than straight up higher salaries only, and can often persuade people to choose company A vs. B.
I like some, but I am realistic and we all know they only do so to keep you around not just their kindness. Before choosing a company based on perks, put a monetary value to it and see if it is worth more to you than higher salary (post-tax as that's what you'd spend on most).

I chose my current role based on salary, location and 3 weeks vacation (back then) as some crazy ones still offered 1 week or even none , like lol. I mean you can equate PTO to salary so make sure to factor that in.

Now, I have unlimited PTO (well we all know not truly unlimited by already did 5-6 weeks last year),
Wed&Fri lunch provided,
snacks,coffee,tee etc,
Annual education stipend
Work from home days
Flexible hours
Paid gym membership if I wanted to (have one in the community)
401k match
subsidized health insurance (crazy you have to mention this but yeah still some who don't offer any or have crappier rates than what you could have gotten yourself)
Donation Matching
etc.

To me the most important is vacation time, as you can equate 4 weeks to 1 month's salary already let alone flexible time etc.. All perks you would not get when just working for yourself so it is worth it to compare hard numbers before deciding to ditch your 9-5 (or whatever your company allows)

@Asif WILSON Khan What you thinking bro, 500CC's? If you need someone to help massage to keep the silicone soft I'll be on the next flight there.

health vision and dental paid for, a 401k match and ESOP program, plenty of paid training and equipment, three-days-per-week work from home, and travel points get pushed right into my own reward accounts ... over $10,000 worth of training and conference, and over $4,000 of 401k employer match (free money).

But most importantly will these items be included in your monthly journey income statements as earned income alongside the wifes' paycheck? :anyway:

Ironic that the 40 ft climbing wall helps to RESUCE insurance costs lol :) but still it would probably be my favourite perk.

Rich do not want to share here. You will find poor people with bigger hearts.

Depending on the company, this could be very much worth it - even to pay for the position. I know two guys who went through this with Goldman Sachs. Both from Ivy League colleges with very strong engineering degrees (not ... humanities). They had to fight their way in, worked for pennies and worked like dogs for I think 2 years (like 70+ hours week would be a lazy week).

The result? Huge connections, great reputation, they went on to raise a ton of money for their startup like "here, let me snap my fingers" (in relation to any random Joe).
