15 Flyers = £6000 in 90 minutes So you know those old, old friends that have more distant friends? Basically people that you have no connection with at all but are invited to a party, ball or wedding of theirs? Well a few months ago I was invited to a wedding of one of these men. He was getting married for the fifth and hopefully last time and wanted to make it a big thing! A LOT of unnecessary money, A LOT was spent on making the day perfect and around 700 people were at the reception of which most of them he didn't know but that doesn't matter. At first I didn't know whether or not I should go seeing as though I'd only know too people there, it would be pretty awkward. However, while drinking my morning coffee I came up with an idea to benefit from going. My idea was to be an affiliate and find customers for a wedding company. Now, I have a friend who owns a wedding organising company of a similar calibre to that of the one this man must have used so I gave her a call and we met up to discuss it. In about thirty minutes of sitting in Café we agreed that I would take a 9% commission on each customer I got her and she would set up a new phone number to identify which were the customers I'd brought in. How I actually got the customers I designed a flyer using a template on Publisher and made a few changes to make it look more unique which with content written took me about an hour to create. I then had fifteen copies printed with a nice glossy finish for around £10 at my local stationary shop. I dressed up in my best suit and went to the wedding with the flyers. After the ceremony, at the reception I dotted them around; a few on the bar and a few on the odd table. It was a great night and I must admit the organisers were of a very high standard especially their leaflets! They were beautiful! The "BlackHat" part Now you may or may not have realised already but incase you haven't my friend's company was not the company that actually organised the wedding. I played on the fact that the organising company had nothing to advertise themselves and left a few flyers of a rival business around. Now in NO WAY did I claim that the work of the real company was actually carried out by my friend's, the flyers were really just a description of some of the services she offers and a telephone number for them to call for a quote so the people at the wedding were left to assume that the flyers were of the real organisers. My Result At first I thought I'd been unsuccessful as my friend didn't say anything about it but after a week or two she sent me an email with three deals she had closed totally £60,000. Therefore, my 9% cut earned me just under £6,000. Not bad for an hour and a half's work! What you can do Now you could repeat this word for word and do as well as I did or even better or not earn anything at all but what I would advise you to do is use this technique to inspire yourself. I've tried many methods and some have been successful, others haven't. Creating my own method wasn't just more exciting than following a guide but now I've been successful using my own brain I've got a lot more motivation to do it again! I'll let you think of possible twists yourself but you can do this to this with pretty much any events organising company and that's the most basic twist! Dream big and have a great day!
