    no more sales coming through...

what the heck does that mean?

I've only had 12 refunds in 5 days so far.
    Now my sales are stopped.

Any advice? How does this process work?

    What is your experience?

LOL... why would you keep that much money in paypal.

Never keep more than $100 in paypal... those monkeys can close it at any time. Just transfer the funds to your bank (if you are going to order then you can order through paypal even if the money is in your "normal" bank account).

There is nothing you can do.... just call them and find out what documents they want and provide them with it.... (but knowing those monkeys they will probably tell you to wait 180 days).

    :)

Usually they'll restrict it pending further information about you or your business before completely limiting it i'd have thought. Perhaps someone complained about you???

That sucks tho!! I know they need to protect buyers/sellers from fraud but it's out of order just freezing and holding a persons money!

    hope you get it sorted

Never keep over $200 in your Paypal. Get the Paypal card and withdraw whenever you can.
They should've sent you reason why its limited and what you should do to get your funds out.

You know in this day in age I don't feel sorry for anyone losing money to paypal especially keeping 11k in the account considering its common knowledge there the worst people to do business with.

How many transactions did you have in those 5 days?

I don't remember exactly, but I think they'll limit your account if you have around 4% or 5% of your transactions turn into disputes/claims.

I had to deal with this twice now and each time I had to super verify that it was my account. If you have fake information on your account then you messed up pretty big.

I don't believe that refunds effect your account being limited. After all that would show you are NOT a scammer if you keep giving people back their money. Maybe if it were 12 disputes/complaints in 5 days then there would be a problem

I disagree. PayPal doesn't suck. What's your alternative? Do you know what faff is involved setting up a payment gateway via a bank merchant account, especially when you have little capital.

PayPal keeps the barriers to entry to this game low. Which allows fellow entrepreneurs from around the globe to compete. I bet many successful dudes on here started with PayPal.

Keep things legit, keep smart and you have generally nothing to worry about.

No matter how legit you are, they can and will in so many cases lock your account and make a list of demands that you must abide by to get your account unlocked, then if you are lucky, in most cases you will be able to access your funds in .......... 180 days.

I had the same experience with over 18k usd with them, they claimed that the sales volume was unusual.

The most likely explanation is the sudden surge in sales in a short period of time. If the account isn't aged with a trend of ongoing sales then they will limit accounts to keep it from going out of control. This is the hold over from all the auction scams years ago. So unless you had a proven track record that perhaps built up over time and then maybe a surge it wouldn't be limited. But an account that perhaps had low sales records and then BOOM! they will limit.

Then again, paypal can limit any account any time they choose. They have no regulations as with traditional banks, and doing that much in sales you would be better off with a merchant account which would also have a lower percentage rate for transaction fees.

Supply them with business documentation. Call them. It will work, after all they don't want to lose you.

Speaking from experience: PayPal enables people to get started - sure it comes at a cost - but once you've an established business model then you get a merchant account and keep PayPal as an option.
