After seeing several goog trends posts here, I tried doing something with g trends. I set up a current events themed blog on a subdomain with the word news in the url. I pulled an RSS feed from goog trends and set it to update every six hours. For the first few weeks, I would pick a keyword from google trends and drop it in sitejunk (dot com), then use the resulting mess as a blog post. Try to use a word that people will still be searching for months later- in other words, don't use a person's name. That's the tough part, as g trends tends to be about people. I did this a few times a week for the first month or so, then I let it do it's own thing. Before I shut it down, the site generated about 100 hits a day with the occasional click. Yes, people actually clicked the ads on occasion. The only promotion I did was I dugg one article when the site was new, to help it get indexed faster. The problem is finding advertisers who will accept a crap blog like this (I've been banned from adsense).
